The staff and Barbara are super welcoming and joyful, the traditional house was beautiful and has some nice story behind. We were at the 2nd floor the stairs were a bit high (my mother being a senior had some struggle but it went well lol) but the rooms are the most beautiful and you have a beautiful view of the Minato river
Best to rent a car (a general recommendation about Yakushima, transports are not ideal and taxi can be expensive) and to buy some groceries before coming since opening hours vary and are not always reliable on Google

It's perfectly situated for a stay on Yakushima. Barbara is a truly wonderful host, and provides an experience that sums up Yakushima perfectly!
I could have stayed longer. -_-::

Baba-san is an amazing person who does a lot for her village Issou, where she was born and raised. She has built a wonderful and friendly place for people to connect and become friends. The place has creativity and warmth and she managed to give the house, a former ryokan, a second life and a good atmosphere. Although I spent only one night here it was a very nice experience with good conversations with the other guests and Baba-san herself.
