Unexpected security deposit

Location and free parking

The sneaky way they required a security deposit. This should have been listed on booking.com so it doesn’t come as a surprise. The 50cm step up into the shower was extremely dangerous and not what you expect in a normal shower. Space around the bed due to the size of the bedroom was also annoying.

We felt at home here

For us this apartment was like home from home, a great layout and very comfortable. There are local supermarket, takeaways and restaurants and the city centre is not far away. Whilst you will not receive a response prior to the day you arrive, you will have all the attention and needs met whilst you are there. The hosts made sure to keep in touch. The car parking is secure as promised, and forget about the wi-fi rating if under 10, because they have a new service, clocked at 380 mbs up & down, with streaming services available to log in. And plug sockets all over. A fantastic time there and hope it will be available when we next come to Caen.

La Casa Bella was truly a delightful home away from home with the most exceptional view and location. Our every requirement was catered for, and our host was very gracious, friendly and helpful. We will not hesitate to stay at La Casa Bella again in the future.

Comfortable apartment in a good location . Good value.

The apartment was perfect for 2 people. It was nicely furnished, comfortable bed and plenty of hot water. The kitchen had a microwave, Nespresso machine, kettle, toaster as well as a big fridge and stovetop/oven. There was parking which was important for us. it is in a beautiful old building so bedroom is small. Supermarket, bakery and other stores in walking distance as well as restaurants nearby. We didn’t watch TV but there was a large one. The website has a good representation of the apartment. Nestor was very responsive to my inquiries.

There was no hairdryer and I would have preferred a hand rail on the stairs but not a big deal for me.

Extremely difficult Access to this Apartment completely ruined our holiday

booking.com let us down very badly. Because of my wife's health and limited mobility we always request a ground floor room or a lift ( see May Josselin). This is essential. Nestor NEVER replied to us and blamed Booking.com for the lack of accessibility - a 2 floor curved stone staircase with no hand rail and no light at the top. This completely ruined our holiday. She couldn’t leave the apartment Was trapped & very frighted. We contacted the next morning and are still waiting for a return phone call. My wife injured her knee & legs and strained herself in this impossible situation

See above. The property was not as described access wise. We had no support/ help/ communication from the apartment - Nestor - who jiust blamed Booking.com - who we have used constantly over the years & who have been outstanding. Nestor was NOT HELPFUL. DID NOT RESPOND TO OUR CRY FOR HELP. SHE IS A DISGRACE TO BOOKING.com This was a nightmare. Couldn’t even have an evening meal out as mounting curved stone steps in the dark - with no hand rail was impossible. We asked for help and received NONE.

Perfect location in the centre of Caen. Private parking spot. Ver nice appartment, with all facilities you may need. Lovely view on the church (which had beautiful lighting in the evening).

Didn't meet expectations but great location.

The location was excellent. Space was good. Good parking.

Having booked on booking.com a non refundable stay, I then found I had to do a security deposit of £500. On arrival and departure at the property I had to upload photos. The security was not released for 20 days. I feel this should be clear when booking. The apartment itself was a great location with parking however was not very clean and kitchen poorly equipped with very poor standard and minimal crockery and poor quality pans etc.

Well positioned apartment for two people

Plenty of space for two people. An interesting area with the Abbeye aux Homme directly in front and various shops nearby. Easy walking distance to the centre of Caen, also the free parking in the courtyard was good.

We stayed six nights and I think the two small, thin towels provided were not adequate.

Absolutely perfect apartment, very light, clean, open. check in was easy, communication with owner great and helpful. In kitchen I found all for to make tea, coffee and good dishes for cooking. Bedroom is on quiet place, so great for sleeping. I can definitely recommend.

It will be great to have there washing machine, in case of need. But for short stay is ok

Más miedo que confort con unas vistas espectaculares

Lo que más nos gustó fue la ubicación y las vistas de la abadía de los hombres desde la ventana del salón.

El miedo que meten con tanto mensaje de como rompas, ensucies o dañes algo te quedas sin fianza, depósito por cierto del que no informan previo a realizar la reserva, que recordemos no es reembolsable. Al realizar la reserva es cuando te informan de que debes pagar más de 500€ de depósito. Tienes que pagarlo en una plataforma paralela a Booking y meter tu tarjeta de crédito, cosa que genera ya mucha desconfianza entre la sorpresa del pago y tener que hacerlo fuera de Booking. Luego te mandan a descargar un dossier donde te vuelven a insistir en que como pase algo te quedas sin el dinero, te recomiendan que hagas fotografías de todo según entres al alojamiento y las subas a la plataforma...En fin, un sinvivir la estancia, el piso era cómodo, pero eso hizo que no estuviéramos cómodos y sintiéramos más miedo que bienestar. Además, para una vez que necesitamos ponernos en contacto con la persona intermediaria si había algún problema (las bombillas del baño estaban llegando a su fin), tardó días en contestar. También es un piso no apto para gente con problemas de movilidad, ya que hay que subir varios pisos sin ascensor y por unas escaleras estrechas de caracol, preciosas, pero hay que tenerlo en cuenta. Había muchísimos mosquitos.

Su acceso (no dispone de ascensor). El alto nivel de exigencia (pago sin cancelación gratuita y obligatoriedad de depósito o fianza por la estancia). Cama incómoda y pequeña. Juego de toallas incompleto y de mala calidad. Exceso de elementos decorativos que no aportan nada.
