Weekend at l'Herbe Haute

We have just returned from a brilliant weekend away in Honfleur. Our accommodation was only minutes away by car from the centre. The house and accommodation was lovely, we had a large bedroom with ensuite on the ground floor with our own small terrace with table and chairs. We had use of the swimming pool in the large garden with wonderful views. Our hosts were delightful, on arrival we were offered drinks and was given information on the area and local places to visit. Every morning we was served a delicious breakfast including a different home made cake each day. We were made to feel at home in this beautiful house. Tea and coffee were available for us to help ourselves but we could have had a kettle in our room if requested. Thank you Sandra and Guillaume for making our stay so comfortable.

It’s so serene it’s like a retreat. Loved it

It’s beautiful & serene, a little oasis away from the crowds. The owners are friendly and have time for their guests, answering any & all questions. They take pride in their home & hospitality, there’s a lot of thought gone into everything. Everything was modern & comfortable and worked well. The pool is the icing on the cake if you’re lucky enough to have the weather to use it. Also it’s located just on the fringe of Honfleur which is a lovely place to visit.

Perfect stay with fabulous hosts - highly recommended!

A fabulous stay with really kind and welcoming hosts - situated a 20 min walk from charming Honfleur. We stayed in the larger attic room, which was v comfortable, comfy bed and good shower. Definitely needed the fan in the hot weather ! The added bonus of Marcel (the dog) trying to sing Happy Birthday a real treat 😄 Breakfast was really good ..especially the home made jams and marmalade! The pool was great to cool off in ..all in all a perfect stay and we would definitely try and go back if in the area. Thank you very much!

Amazing hosts, made us feel so welcome and went over and above to make sure we had a good time. Very friendly and lots of brilliant local recommendations. We had everything we needed and more. A little paradise in Normandy

The location and the house are beautiful and the owners are very kind, welcoming and helpful. We got a lot of great tips for restaurants and for sightseeing. They make a lovely breakfast with every day a different homemade cake and local products. The garden is also beautiful and everything is very clean and neat. We would recommend this accommodation to everyone! And hopefully we can come back in the future. Thanks Sandra & Guillaume!

Delightful stay

Accommodation is run by an amiable couple who were very attentive and happy to make the guests feel comfortable and to enjoy their vacation. They know the region quite well and have given us some splendid advice. There is a large garden with many amenities which guests are encouraged to use. Located in a quiet area, just an app 15 minute walk to the centre of Honfleur. Sufficient parking places. If visiting Normandy again, I would definitely consider returning here.

a beautiful Normandy house situated a short walk into the centre of Honfleur. The rooms are exceptional and tastefully furnished. Cleaning was to a high standard. you can sit out on the terrace and enjoy the views of the valley. Breakfast was homemade and delicious.

Beautiful scenery, very comfortable

Beautiful setting surrounded by nature, gorgeous garden and a nice swimming pool, which we used even in late May. Welcoming and helpful hosts, nice breakfast and we loved the friendly cat and the dog. Close to the town centre, possible to walk. Very quiet neighbourhood. Clean rooms that smell fresh. Big comfortable bed.

Sound insulation could be better (though understandable for an old house). Wifi reception is fairly bad, but then again, disconnecting adds to the restful experience of being in nature. Really hard to dislike anything, it was lovely. Would recommend and return here.

A delightful break in an idyllic environment soon to be repeated.

Property is located in an outstanding location, very quiet but only a few minutes easy drive from the centre of Honfleur. The welcome from Guillaume and Sandra was exceptional and throughout our stay nothing was too much for them. Breakfasts were perfect and served with attention and enthusiasm. Our Hostess provided us with a detailed review of the possibilities for exploring the local area. They made a booking for us prior to our arrival at a very popular and excellent restaurant. Altogether an experience which we plan to repeat again this year. Having viewed other potential properties we consider ourselves fortunate to have chosen L'Herbe Haute. We have previously lived in France for some ten years and consider ourselves somewhat knowledgeable on Chambres d'Hotes. our Hostess even provided my wife with some plant cuttings to bring back with us.

For a moment we had the whole Normandie to ourselves

This review is a little bit delayed. Writing a review for such a place requires time. Let me tell you why, we arrived to France not exactly as two Francophiles. We had never been to France and we did not know what to expect. But the moment of arrival at the property immediately changed our minds. The hosts and the dogs greeted us like friends, and did so for the rest of our stay. It's amazing, it's the first time we ever felt like visiting old friends while staying at a property. We ate fantastically cooked breakfast with local products, drank Honfleur-cider in their garden, talked and laughed with the hosts. They helped out with any questions or issues you could have. And on our last evening, we shared a bottle of Champagne with oysters in the fireplace-lit living-room, while the hosts and their friends and neighbors were conversating and drinking wine in the background. And it was in that moment, to the comforting sound of a fireplace sparking, the hosts' dog sleeping peacefully next to us, all while hearing with the joyful and alive discussions in the background, that I felt like we had the whole Normandie to ourselves. From that day on, we both identify ourselves as proud Francophiles.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were made to feel so welcome in Sandra and Guillaume's home. They provided a welcome drink and recommendations for places to visit. Sandra also very kindly recommended and booked our restaurant which was excellent. The location is perfect just a short walk away from the town of Honfleur. The return journey is uphill so if you have mobility issues it may be best to drive down. Plenty of parking in town. The breakfast was lovely and different each morning with fabulous home made jams! The bedroom and en suite were sparkling clean as was the rest of the property inside and outside. I forgot something and Sandra returned it back to the UK which was very kind of her. Super couple, super short break.

Amazing breakfast with different local and homemade products everyday. The location of the B&B is perfect, very close to Honfleur Town centre but feels like you are in the countryside. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming, including the resident pets Marcel and Sticky.

Great weekend and great choice!! The house was super cozy! The rooms recently refurbished and the dining room very comfortable, we had breakfast and dinner there given current Covid restrictions but it felt like a normal weekend! The hosts were super welcoming and nice. We would repeat for sure!

A lovely place to explore Normandy from!

The owners are a delightful couple who were super friendly and full of great suggestions over our daily itinerary. They seemed genuinely interested in our plans and were keen to make sure we enjoyed our time. The house is beautiful, comfortable and clean. The hosts made us feel very welcome with a big smile. We loved the pool and the area. Every morning Sandra en Guillaume prepared us a fresh and alternately breakfast with homemade cake and homemade jam.
