Top floor apartment in Nicosia with view!

I very much enjoyed my stay in Nicosia and this apartment was a good base for it provided I got my head around the not exactly user-friendly bus system - with the bus it's quick to get to the centre of town, while the area itself is pleasant and rather interesting. Communication with the owner was friendly but they were pretty laid-back, only giving some information on the day I arrived, without very thorough explanations, but it was just enough. I was there in winter, which is mild there of course, but it meant I couldn't really use the balcony for that long. The apartment itself (really just half an apartment) is modern and functional but it isn't big. Together with the balcony though, in most seasons, it's enough, as on the balcony you have a table to sit at, plus good views (e.g. of the hills in North Cyprus as well as rather too many skyscrapers in South Cyprus...). I would happily return here, though having got to know this very interesting city just a little bit, it would be interesting to try some other neighbourhoods, as well. The kitchen is small but useful. (NB on my Cyprus trip I stayed in Paphos, Limassol, and here in Nicosia - Paphos is nice, Limassol is exciting but not my cup of tea, but if I return I will focus on Nicosia, as culturally it is far, far more interesting than either of the others.)

For me the hot water was a bit tepid in an otherwise very fancy bathroom; it would have been nice to have a little table in the bedroom. A microwave would also have been very useful. Slightly better explanations about how to enter the building and where the key box is would have been appreciated, as would some kind of welcome message a bit before the day of arrival. (But I do understand that it's an island in the Eastern Mediterranean, so one expects people to be a bit more laid-back than, say, in the north of Germany...)

The boiler cannot be set to temperature higher than 35 celsius which means the water is just mild.

The elevator was not working, so I had to climb the stairs with or without luggage throughout my stay

The bed was nice and the tv was easy to use

The bathroom was dirty when we first arrived, the shampoo and body wash were empty, the balcony was dirty, the "oven" had a broken socket, one of the balcony doors wouldnt open and the other had a broken handle,the shutter wouldnt go all the way up, plus they only left us on toilet roll I complained to the owner about the mess and they gave me the number of the cleaner so that I HAD to contact her myself. Although the lady was a sweetheart, it was clear that they handle prepared the room properly for our stay. Its a good room with a great location( those the parking was challenging) but for the money we payed we expected to at least come to a prepared room.
