I had a great stay at Hotel Shu for 10 days. The photos are a true and accurate representation of the property, which I really appreciated. The room was comfortable with enough space for me, and having a washing machine in the room plus a drying room available made things incredibly convenient for a longer stay. One of the standout features was how quiet it was. I barely saw anyone during my stay, and didn’t have to share the elevator once, which made it feel very peaceful and private. I also really appreciated how responsive and professional the staff were. I had a minor issue during my stay and they handled it quickly and efficiently the same day, providing fresh bedding and support without any hassle, which I was genuinely grateful for. The location was also ideal — about a 15–20 minute walk to Shinjuku Station and 5–10 minutes to Shinjuku Gyoenmae — so it felt close to everything, but still like a calm break from the busyness of Shinjuku. Overall, a really comfortable, quiet, and practical stay. I’d rate it 10/10 and would happily stay again.

There were only a couple of minor issues during my stay. Occasionally there was an unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom area — I couldn’t quite tell if it was from the sink, bath, or toilet, but it was noticeable at times. The bathroom sink also drained quite slowly, which was a bit inconvenient, though it didn’t fully block. These were fairly minor issues in an otherwise excellent stay, but worth mentioning for awareness.

The location was nice. There is a grocery just across the street. They room was comfortable and had a balcony and laundry. Self service check in.

The biggest thing was there was no secure location to leave our bags until the checkin time. The communication wasn't ideal. No one was at the front desk. They were very strict about check out time (and with no secure place to leave bags this was tricky as well).

The room was a decent size and the beds and bedding was comfortable. Access to our room via messaging was easy. It was fantastic that this room had a washing machine, as it was a half way point of our trip and we did washing that all dried perfectly before continuing our journey.

It's not a dislike, however, having someone at the hotel desk is often very handy for additional questions or requests.
