Close to the beach & welcome pack was nice
The smell of mold throughout the property, something has obviously happened in the kitchen & needs sorting as I felt that I didn't want to be in that room with the smell & the floor - not great when you’re self catering!. Tv needs.replacing as the picture is funny. Shower dirty with mold, broken handle. Could only flush the toilet if I pushed the handle up before pressing down. Stains on bathroom floor, hallway & the mold coming through the kitchen floor. Booked for 5 nights but couldn't manage to stay the full booking.

It was comfortable with great views
It was a lovely property, just a couple of tiny things need rectifying. Needs a few new bits on the kitchen, but overall amazing value for money.

Location was superb, only 50m from the front.
Allowance of dog was a main reason for us booking.
All the extras left for us on arrival, coffee pods, biscuits, etc - a lovely touch.
Ease of booking.
If I was being picky, there was a smell on arrival (possibly from a previous pet) in the cellar/ kitchen.

Lovely house with lots of character. All of your necessities are provided and the beds are comfy, even on a hot night the rooms are not stifling. Couldn't be any closer to the beach and the shops, and the area is beautiful. I want to live here.
That I had to leave.

Our 2nd visit brilliant location seconds from seafront. Great character 16th century fisherman's cottage. We used top bedroom love watching TV at the end of the bed this is definitely a great find for us.
My wife doesn't like walking too far so this is great for her.
Nothing really did have a problem with the TV in living room but owners came out and sorted it for us they are a lovely family

Location was excellent. Cute little cottage with comfy beds and couch.
Stairs were steep. But if your a fit young person they wouldn't be a problem.

The location is excellent for access to Old Town, the beach, arcades, restaurants and many other attractions. The hosts provided chocolate bunnies for Easter which my kids really loved. Excellent for a family holiday.
Everything was excellent.

Could not have wished for a better location in the centre of Scarborough. The cottage was absolutely lovely and clean. Both the bedrooms and kitchen were for the equipped. We had a really enjoyable stay. Excellent communication from the owners also.
There are four floors to the property, so do not book if you struggle with stairs. We were fine so no problems for us.

This cottage was beautiful lots 9f old features I was told it was built in 1620...very comfortable and close to the seafront.
Massive attic bedroom and cosy 2and bedroom...shower only which was fine.
Got to meet the owners seemed like a lovely couple.
Alot of stairs so no good if your not a fit climber.
Kitchen in the basement with cooker fridge freezer toaster kettle all you need also coffee machines in both bedrooms.also wi-fi
We loved staying here.

Great location, nice views from bedrooms, well working system with parking scratch cards, comfy bedding, very good water pressure
Moldy smell in kitchen in the cellar with virtually no real opportunity to air the room, mildew in the lino floor, very low ceiling, stove not very clean and not able to be cleaned, living room with only one window which when opened lets in the cigarette smoke from the lady next door who smokes sitting in her entrance just about 1.5 metres away from the window, even with closed windows the cigarette smoke gets through the not very well insulated wall to the neighbour's house so keeping the windows (especially in the upstairs bedrooms) open pretty much all the time is essential

Hook's House has a lovely bedroom on the top floor. It is a large room with a sitting area near the window that gives you a very nice view and a bed with good sleep comfort. The bathroom is very pleasant because of its simplicity, space and the sunlight that comes in. In the welcoming basket you can find a book with all sorts of information about the house, but also a page with the history of the house. I started reading it but got interrupted by the children and didn't finished before we left. It gives you good information on why the house is how it is. Hook's House has a good location. It's situated in the commercialised South Bay and is in small walking distance from the beach, arcades, cafés, shops, the cliff tram, the old town and the castle. Because of its location it is possible to do everything on foot. You come across very steep streets, so you might need to catch your breath from time to time. There are various benches that give you the opportunity and let you enjoy some beautiful panoramic views. We left the car at the parking all week and walked to everything. For Sea Life, Peasholm Park and the North Bay we hopped on the Beachcomber because it's fun for the children but you can actually just walk to there as well. It will take you about 15-20min from Hook's House.
When we arrived the small parking behind the house was full so we had to park at a public parking a few streets away from the house and walked with luggage and groceries 2 times there and back. We had to wait till the following day to move to car to a much closer parking space. On entering the house we were welcomed by the smell of cigarettes throughout the house coming from the neighbour nextdoor. The smoke probably gets through the cracks in the windows and maybe through small cracks in the wood and walls? The sitting area is nice and spacy but the pillows and couch smell of dogs. The kitchen is situated in the cellar where it is damp. The scent in there is unpleasant, there are stains on the floor and on the carpet. There is no ventilation in that area apart from a small window that you cannot reach. We left the door to the kitchen open (which was closed upon arrival) and all the windows from the top floors open everyday all day long to air the house. I've been washing tea towels and clothes and been putting the dryer on several times that week in the hope that the warmth would take a bit of the damp and smell out. But unfortunately the room needs better insulation and better airing for it to improve. Also was the kitchen not clean upon arrival. We washed cups, mugs, cutlery, plates before using them. On the working tops were breadcrumbs and rice and the fridge was not clean either. We decided to only have breakfast in the house and eat out the other times of the day. Which made our holiday more expensive than we initially planned. The wifi connection was gone by the end of the week and had to use the public wifi of Scarborough which didn't provide the best connection.

Great location
We couldn't enjoy our stay .When we arrived a very strong cigarette smell and paint(?) smell greated us. Cigarette smell stayed the whole week, it looked like someone is smoking wright inside our rooms. We used to keep open windows during the day and during the night. We weren't able to use dining room and kitchen at all. I think guest suppose to be informed about this issues. My daughters even had headaches from that horrible smell.

Extra handrails going up all flights of stairs not really suitable for the elderly or difficulty walking

The lock box is a great idea we got a really lovely text from the owner Simon with all the info we needed. The house is amazing value for money in terms of what is available in the area and for its location.
There are mod cons you don't get in all properties in the area loved the Tvs in all rooms everyone can watch what they like. The guide from the owner is amazing so you know how to use everything. The house is quirky and quaint you feel like it's made from the inside of someone's ship with the way the stairs are panelled.
The views are incredible from both bedrooms and you are really in the heart of everything. Whilst the neighbour smokes alot she's absolutely lovely and super helpful pointing us to the correct bin to use. There was alot of good things about the house and our stay
The neighbour smokes constantly which isn't the owners fault but the houses look like they only have partition walls I some places could you seal it better to keep the smoke out sometimes you can almost see it. Also the bed in the attic needs new slats some came out a few times and you could see they'd been glued previously it was just a bit annoying that said I'm sure the owners would have come to sort it but when you are away you don't want to bother anyone . Also if possible could you seal the basement more or tile and seal it because there were lots of slugs which can be a hazard to dogs. Not your fault though as it's a sub floor so may not be possible.

everything, loved the way it has been updated but kept its character, the little touches like coffee machine in bedrooms, feel like home
little bit of a problem for my mum on the stairs, but she said she could manage because of the handrails

The location of this house is perfect. It's close to the harbour, beach and front. It's a lovely unique house
There is a smell of smoke as the neighbours sit on their doorstep and appear to be heavy smokers! It didn't take away from our stay though.
