THE OLD TOWN CLOCK

The owner met me out in the street which was a nice gesture. For the purposes of a tourist, this room was conveniently located on Rruga Alqi Kondi which extends uphill into the Old Bazaar section of town. I ate 3 different meals in the Old Bazaar area. From the Old Bazaar area, one can continue onward to the castle or to the Zekate House. There are smaller shops nearer to the lodging. There is a large and comfortable bed and a mini fridge is available. It is attached to a rather spacious bathroom. As to sleeping at night, I thought the neighborhood was quiet. As to the day I had to leave, I simply walked downhill on Alqi Kondi and switched streets once or twice to wind up at the bus station.

The bus from Tirana dropped me off at a roundabout at the upper end of Boulevard 18 Shtatori. In fact, it wasn't too far from my lodging. However, the Rruga Lufta E Mashkullores is a very steep, cobblestoned, leg burner! It was a bit of a workout to hike up that alleyway with my luggage in tow from Boulevard 18 Shtatori. Is this the fault of the owner? Absolutely not! I just wish to advise my fellow tourists that much of what you will want to see and experience are on the mountainsides of Gjirokaster.. so get those hiking boots on and prepare for leg burns!

Nice and suitable accommodation for a short stay. The room is not very big, but it is clean and there is also a table where you can have your morning coffee. Beautiful historic old town and the city center are not far away, but you have to climb up the hill to get to them.

The street leading to the accommodation was quite steep and difficult to get there by car. But, other streets in Gjirokastër are even worse and narrower.

Very close to the castle and shops

The bathroom was leaking so it was always wet. The room was very cold when we arrived we had to warm up the room for 2 hours to feel comfortable to take off our jackets. Only left over shampoo from previous travellers in the shower. The toilet was not cleaned correctly we found hair on the toilet seat.
