The staff were very, very friendly. The GPS kept getting confused and tried to take me to the hotel through the old town, with very narrow, steep streets and no place for two cars. First time, it went wrong and took me down a one-way street. On the second attempt, it led me down a street that suddenly ended at a wall, with little room to maneuver and turn around. Then it took me through narrow passages where the car could barely fit. The staff were very, very friendly. The GPS kept getting confused and tried to take me to the hotel through the old town, with very narrow, steep streets and no room for two cars. On one occasion, it went wrong and took me down a one-way street. Another time, it led me down a street that suddenly ended at a wall, with little room to maneuver and turn around. Then it took me through narrow passages where the car could barely fit. Finally, overwhelmed and struggling with the GPS, I called the owner and told him I wasn't going anywhere, and asked him to please come and tell me how to get to the hotel. He answered in 10 seconds, I sent him my location, and his son arrived within 15 minutes. And thank goodness I called them, because it wasn't the way the GPS was taking me, the fifth time it had failed... In the end, access is very easy, through the newer part of the city, without needing to go into any dangerous areas or uphill. If I hadn't called and had continued following the GPS, I would have ended up with a wrecked car or going off the road down an embankment. They were incredibly kind and weren't obligated to come and pick me up. In fact, I've thought a lot about whether to talk about the bad or just the good, because they were very kind and I didn't want to hurt their feelings, but I think the room wasn't in good condition (mainly the bathroom), and I didn't want to overlook that because I think selling a room without hot water and without being able to use the toilet is illogical and unethical.
They only left me one roll of toilet paper, which was insufficient, even though it was only for one night. For some people, it might be enough, but I usually have several bowel movements a day, and I also had my period, so I needed more paper. I shouldn't have to justify myself or give these explanations. I didn't realize there was only one roll at check-in, and when I needed it that night, I couldn't contact the owners, nor was I going to ask them for more... It wouldn't have been difficult for them to leave a couple of extra rolls in the room's closet for people who need them, so I wouldn't have had to spend the awful night I did without being able to clean myself. This has happened to me in other places in this country; they really skimp on toilet paper. Maybe they don't use it much and don't understand its necessity and usefulness, or maybe it's expensive... Also, the toilet cistern doesn't work. Other guests have mentioned this problem, so it's a widespread issue, not just mine. Everything my body expelled accumulated in the toilet bowl during my stay (luckily it was only one night), as the cistern was empty. In fact, the water shut-off valve was closed when I arrived. I turned it on myself, and instead of filling the cistern, the water just trickled down the toilet bowl. The shower did have water, but it was cold. I couldn't get any hot water at any point, something other guests have also mentioned. The room is basic and very small. My suitcase doesn't fit open on the floor. The shower was literally right above the toilet bowl, so the entire bowl would flood with water and soap and become unusable. You had to dry it with a towel or use it without touching it because it was soaking wet, so you wouldn't get your bottom wet. They gave me two small hand towels, but no large bath towels, so I couldn't dry the toilet bowl to use it either.
