Very kind hosts in beautiful scenery in the Valley of the Rance

It’s a beautiful Manoir and Samantha and Philippe are wonderful hosts. We had bikes with us and it is a very short ride to join the cycle path on the River Rance. We rode south to the very picturesque Port de Dinan and then on south on the cycle path by the Canal Ile et Rance. If we had stayed two nights we would have ridden north on the cycle path West Bank by the River Rance.

A beautiful and very comfortable B and B. Would love to stay there again.

This B and B was perfect. We had a very quiet comfortable suite in an out building from the main home. The owners were wonderful and attentive to any needs we had. We were welcome to have a glass of wine in the main room by the fireplace. The property is lovely and we felt very safe. Breakfast of fruit, yogurt, pastries etc was very good and the hostess made eggs for us every morning.

It wasn't a problem for us but just be aware you will have to drive into Dinan for dinner as the property is in a small community just outside of the main town.

Excellent in every way, just what we needed

Beautiful place to stay in a peaceful location. The decor, furnishings and general layout have been thoughtfully arranged for the benefit of the guests. We felt very welcome and at home. The owner Samantha was a wonderful and gracious host, caring for all our needs and making us feel at ease.

Charming house and tranquil setting , with hosts who made you feel truly welcome

A warm welcome awaits anyone staying here. The setting is tranquil and the Manor House is beautiful, with a very pleasant walled garden including a swing from a tree. We opted to pay for the generous breakfast buffet, which featured a sweet a savoury selection, that we found very enjoyable.

The Wi-Fi occasionally dropped off in our room but we could reconnect easily so it was just a very minor issue

A real treasure!

Samantha was so welcoming when we arrived earlier than we expected. The house is such a treasure and perfect for a nights stay before our ferry back to the UK from St Malo. The room was exquisitely furnished and we had a wonderful breakfast in the garden. There is a lounge for guests to relax which has been decorated beautifully!

A Lovely Manor and Setting

We loved our stay at La Maffrais. We were treated just like members of the family. The Manor is really a jewel. Very handsome and very comfortable. Lovely grounds and peaceful as well as beautiful. We had pleasant trips into Porte of Dinan (parking is a challenge) and the Historical area for dinners and sight seeing. Breakfasts were pleasant visits with Samantha and other guests. the breakfast meal is perfect. We heartily recommend a stay at La Maffrais. WEv left with very fond memories.

This is a a thoroughly charming B and B and a wonderful base for exploring Brittany.

This is a beautifully restored and updated French country home in a peaceful setting just a short drive from Dinan. Great location for day tips to St. Malo, Mont St. Michel and all the sights and beauty of the Emerald Coast. The owner was very cordial and attentive. Lots of little touches. Breakfast choices were abundant and delicious.

Before we came, Samantha sent us a message through Booking.com …”We’ll take good care of you.” … and she did.

It’s a beautiful old estate dating back to at least the 18th century. The interior is beautiful and well maintained. I recommend the breakfasts. Samantha’s is an excellent cook and her crepes are wonderful. It is a great location for people who like to like to follow the ‘road less traveled’. The living room sometimes becomes a gathering place for other guests and it is fun to share each others’ adventures in the region. Also … it has excellent access to the Port du Dinan. An excellent lace to sit by the river and have a glass of wine and dine. We recommend Les Rossognolas for a relaxed environment and in the old town Creperie Ahna. I ordered the chicken and enjoyed the surprise.

First of all Samantha was the sweetest host. So kind and generous. Her breakfasts were delicious and she really goes out of her way to make you feel welcome. The rooms were comfortable and very charming. Really felt like we were staying in a country house.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome and looked after. Samantha was the perfect host and her attention to detail very much appreciated. The accommodation was both luxurious and stunning. Well placed to visit lots of places but Dinan was our favourite and never got boring. Very sad to leave - thank you for a wonderful stay x

Wonderful place and amazing host

We loved everything about this amazing place and the host. The day we stayed was my birthday and the host really made me day special. The room and the house is so beautiful, very clean and enjoyable with a wonderful garden. We had a great breakfast and aperitivo. We want to go back next year to spend our holidays in this amazing mansion. Highly recommended if you want to enjoy real Brittany.

Amazing hosts and a beautiful establishment. We felt relaxed and welcome from the moment we walked in. The house itself looks very beautiful and the interior is very tasteful and interesting. Our room was clean and comfortable. The effort of house keeping and maintaining the high standard of hospitality were very apparent. Most noteworthy is the hospitality and the breakfast that was offered at the property. We absolutely loved the sweet but healthy breakfast that was prepared fresh every day. We did not try out the dinner from Samantha, but we are sure that won’t dissapoint either.

If there is one thing we’d prefer to see different, it’s the door to the bathroom that was attached to our bedroom. It was seperated from the bedroom with 2 saloon doors. The toilet room was attached to the bathroom, but only shielded with a curtain. This, in our opinion, offered a bit of a lack in privacy.

Amazing stay!

If we could, we would give Samantha and Philippe (and Scott) more than 10/10!! First of all, they were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. They did their outmost to make our stay a fantastic experience. We stayed two nights. The first night we had diner in Dinan, in a restaurant they recommended and it was so nice. The second evening we had Table d'hôtes in the beautiful garden of La Meffrais and enjoyed it very very very much! The breakfasts served at the terras were absolutely splendid. A very good start of the day! The room was beautiful, and the garden and manor were absolutely amazing! We can't wait to visit them again! :)
