Quinta da Portela Douro

Our arrival was difficult. We couldn't find the entrance and nobody answered the phone for several tries. We even entered a steeped vineyard road, getting us to a dead end. But once they answered and opened the gate, a beautiful quiet and relaxing place appeared. Our room was on a separate cabin, with an amazing view. The "twin" beds were very comfy. The whole facility felt pretty new or recently renovated. We would have preferred a real king bed. Breakfast was served in a room with this amazing view of vineyards and Quintas, just in the hill across. They prepared eggs for us. They served a huge amount of gluten free bread, pastries, cereal for just one of us. The buffet was wells served. The only complication was getting in and out. We received a remote control to open the gate. We wanted to try the advertised Porto wine in the reception, but there were no glasses. I highly recommend this place, for more than one night (we just stayed one).

Everything was great for this amazing setting in the middle of the Douro Valley hills and vineyards. Of course there are always small things that can be improved. The limited check-in time can be a real issue. We had to workaround it in order to arrive before 7pm

Everything was excellent : the room, the staff, breakfast, swimming pool, view

It is a modern building with very big , nice and very comfortable rooms with front view to the vineyards hills and a little village. The large sitting area is bright and feels welcoming, the swimming pool is huge and has the same view as the rooms. The reception staff (Ruth) is lovely and makes you feel very welcome. Breakfast is great and a short drive to Armamar will take you to nice little places to have dinner. We totally enjoyed our stay.

Nothing to dislike

An unforgettable, authentic experience! Quinta da Portela offers incredible standout value with dream-like views. Silvia was an amazing host, providing excellent communication and hosting a fantastic tasting. The breakfasts were fresh and filling, and the local honey and olive oil were just as tasty as the wines. The grounds are stunning, private, and the pool views and lounge chairs are perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine. There was so much warmth in their hospitality; this is the kind of stay and view I will be chasing and comparing all future vacations to. Supporting a small quinta felt so much more authentic than a large establishment! Able to schedule taxi or provide a ride but uber/bolt not available at this location. There are a few restaurants within 10minutes.
