Located in the heart of Varenna, the apartment is overlooking the old harbor, with a spectacular view of the lake, fully enjoyable from the large balcony. The apartment has just been re-furnished and consists of: kitchen, air conditioning, living room with fireplace, bathroom with washing machine, 2 double bedrooms, accommodating up to 4 people. All premises (bars, restaurants, shops, public services) are close at hand, within 100 meters. Even the means of transport are easily accessible on foot.

Varenna is a magical place, and Casa Balcone was the perfect place to experience it from. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the morning with coffee and watching the boats and people arrive. We loved watching the sunsets over the mountain! Georgia and his family were helpful and kind.

Casa Balcone checks all the boxes for a real feel of staying in an Italian village! The location is perfect for exploring the town and hopping on either ferry or train to explore other areas around the lake! Oh the views - incredible!! Alberto & Georgio are excellent hosts and I recommend staying here.

Alberto — very friendly and helpful — met us at the train station, drove us to the little town square, then helped us with our bags down the stone walkways to Casa Balcone. Right on the harbor, overlooking the lake and mountains, next to most of the town’s bars/restaurants. Very good location with short walks to the botanical gardens and the ferry. A slight problem with the shower door and when asked it was addressed immediately. When we go back to Lake Como, this place will definitely be on our list of places to stay.

Wonderful location and view. Alberto, very helpful and available. Bedroom windows need real curtains to prevent neighbors from watching you undress. And the shower doors don’t close all the way, so you have to shower holding a handheld showerhead making sure you point it away from the gap in the doors or else you’ll get water all over the bathroom floor.

What a beautiful cozy place to stay at overlooking Lake Como. This has to be the most central spot in Varenna. Everything is close. the restaurants, train station, ferry etc are within walking distance. Restaurants right out your door to the train station a five minute walk mostly along Lake Come. Having my morning coffee on the balcony overlooking Lake Como was just amazing. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Can’t say enough about this experience. We were blown away by the location, central to everything and right on the lake! Lorena was very helpful in orienting us and welcoming us. There are two gelato shops down a few steps from the apartment!!! Or favorite restaurant was steps from us as well. Close to the ferry but providing a spot on our balcony to just sit and enjoy breakfast or a glass of wine enjoying the lake views.. Hated to leave.

We stayed in Italy for 10 days on our recent trip...but our 3 nights in Varenna were the most incredible! This apartment and the views (oh my goodness, the views!!) were perfection. Communication with the hosts was excellent and check-in was easy. The recommendations for dining and gelato were excellent. Truly this was the BEST vacation we've ever been on and we will be telling all of our friends to stay here...it is a GEM!

The apartment was clean, and comfortable. The balcony overlooked the lake, with enough room for 4 chairs, and was within easy walking distance of great restaurants, shops, the train station and the ferry doc. The host was friendly, responsive and helpful. There are a few stone steps to get up to the apartment, and then more steps inside, just something to consider if you have heavy luggage. However, the apartment is located right over a wonderful gelato shop! Highly recommended and we would all choose this place again. You couldn't get a better location in Varenna.

Casa Balcone was all we could expect and more! The location can’t be beat, the view was incredible, and the interior furnishings were all anyone could want! Varenna is a small, beautiful, warm town. The ferries were 5 minutes from the apartment. Shops and restaurants were plentiful. Last, but not least, Georgio!!! He is the Ambassador of Varenna. We are 3 women coming in from a Viking Cruise and we were sick. Georgio brought in a doctor! We relaxed, visited the other small towns, and Georgio took us all to dinner on our final night! We will be back and I couldn’t recommend Casa Balcone any higher! *****❤️

We stayed here for 3 nights during out vacation and really enjoyed the apartment and area as a whole. The communication with host was outstanding. He picked us up at the train station which was a big perk and gave us a quick run down of the town. He was also kind enough to have a bottle of wine waiting at the apartment. Would highly recommend this place, host, and town in general if looking for a Lake Como vacation spot.

Wake up to spectacular views and stroll out your door for anything you want! A cappuccino, a spritz, a gelato, a boat ride! Take all the hosts recommendations and you will have an amazing time. The restaurants were excellent. We personally liked Varenna more than Bellagio!! And we loved mennagio too!

Our stay in this apartment was lovely. You overlook the water, hear the church bell ring and hear the clunking of boats. You over look the lakeside views of cafes and shops. It’s a walkable location to the ferry, restaurants and grocery store. Lorena and Giorgio were wonderful. They provided us a taxi to get to the apartment. Pack light, lots of stairs overall make packing light essential and easier.

We stayed four nights here out of our month stay in Italy. This was one of our favorite accommodations. The view is the best! The location is perfect. The town was our favorite on the lake too. It’s more beautiful in person, pictures don’t do it justice. Giorgio was great- super helpful. Picked us up at the train station gave us a brief driving tour of the area.

Really loved this property. View and location cannot be beat. Just be forwarded that Varenna does have a lot of steps to be navigated if you want to tour the town. We did have to walk up some outside steps and up one flight of steps inside, but that was no issue for us. House had all the necessary items for an enjoyable stay. Giorgio was a polite host and easy to communicate with.

Everything about our stay was fabulous! Giorgio always communicated promptly. His son, Alberto, met us in the piazza, gave a great unto to Varenna, and was as nice and helpful as could be. The view from our balcony was breathtaking, and the apartment was very clean and comfortable!!! If I go back I’ll certainly stay there!!!

If there is a heaven on earth, it’s Varenna. If there is the best place to stay in heaven, it’s this apartment. We stayed with my wife and our 15-year old son. It was simply unbelievable! We started communicating with the host team well in advance. The support was perfect. The description of the unit… Yes, it was accurate, but you simply cannot describe what we got. How can you describe the best view of lake Como? How Can you describe the boats on the water right under your balcony? How can you describe getting down the stairs to the most beautiful promenade? Simply unbelievable!

From the first moment I made contact with Mr Giorgio, I felt I was dealing with someone special. The way he answered my question re restaurant suggestions etc made me feel I was dealing with someone who knew every aspect of how to make someones holiday special. In the end our 3 nights in verenna would probably be the moat memorable of our 33 day road trip around Italy due to the interaction with Giorgio’s family. His apartment is a very special haven for a family holiday in Varenna!

Best possible location in Varenna, directly on the water in the heart of the tiny, lovely village - 5 minute walk (no hills) to the ferry terminal. Very comfortable living spaces, plenty of closet space and hangers. Small balcony (space enough to sit sideways) with a painting-worthy view. Giorgio is fabulous- he’s like the unofficial town mayor— make sure to go to his shop to meet him and buy some jewelry! His son Alberto picked us up at the train station and assisted with our bags (would’ve been a major shlep without his help- Varenna has many steps and hills!) They were both on call for us throughout our stay. FYI’s— Both beds are 2-twin converted to Kings… one is nice/firm, the other a bit older/springy… Washing machine only, no dryer- hang drying clothes is a bit of a DIY affair (no dedicated clothesline), but there’s enough hangers and windows to figure it out. Tiny shower (very euro typical) with LOTS of water pressure and enough hot water for 2 showers or 3 very quick ones! :)
