Stunning place for our weekend getaway.
We loved this absolute tardis of a cottage. It was easy to find, parking right outside, the instructions to get in were easy to follow and comms from the owner were on point. We loved the Alexa automation as it made life very easy. The location was perfect for us to explore Pembs and the pub in the village had a cracking menu too.
We found the beds small and mattresses not that comfortable.

Best short stay ever.
Everything was wonderful and the photos didn't do it justice. The location was superb and much closer to St. David's than expected.
The parking states for 2 cars but that's not true unless they are small cars.

Lovely house :) perfect location
Loved the house, very well presented. Beds were comfortable. Board games and books if you forget to bring your own, which is a nice touch. So handy that there is a washing machine and rotary line. Plenty to do in the area, a great base for exploring Pembrokeshire.
Only one bathroom was a struggle, but we managed.

A Dream holiday home
We loved the quiet comfort of this beautiful cottage. The best home away from home we've experienced in our Wales travels. We loved the thoughtful details and careful organisation. Appreciated having printed information as well as digital communication. Just loved the under floor heating in the bathroom. First time we've watched any television since leaving home 6 weeks ago. Thank you Bob. You are a kind and thoughtful host. We wish we could have stayed longer.
Nothing we didn't like.

Nice stay near St David's for a weekend hiking trip
We had a lovely stay at the cottage. We enjoyed the facilities, especially the evenings in the large living room with the fireplace. The beds in the bedrooms were comfortable, and we had a good night's sleep. The kitchen was well equipped and the dining room was a good size for our breakfast meal. We would come back to stay there again.

Would definitely go back if things were sorted out.
The amount of space for everyone. Nice views.
The shower didn’t work well, the water was either boiling hot or freezing. It wasn’t very clean. A lot of water damage and no ventilation.
Very cold as only underfloor heating.
It needs a lot of work done to it for sure, lovely house just a shame about everything else really.

We looked past the above and enjoyed a comfortable stay
It was spacious and had all the facilities we needed
Some cobwebs and unclean areas, found some pubes in the sink and in the bath and used wipes in a drawer in the bathroom

Lovely comfy home from home.
Lovely living space, bedrooms were all nicely set out with wardrobe space for all, we used the utility room also which was very handy. We couldn’t believe the quality of the property for the price, we were nicely surprised.
The property was very cold when we arrived but I think that is attributed to us arriving at 7pm rather than the 4pm check in time, we did get the house warm but it took a little time.

Exceptional value for money , cost and comfortable and I would recommend this cottage as it was perfect for what we want
Ash Rock House was perfect for what we wanted a lovely spacious cottage in a quiet little village . It was equipped with everything we needed for our stay . The location was excellent not far from St David’s or Haverfordwest and some beautiful beaches close by that we were able to take the dogs to .The lounge was large and very comfortable and it was very cosy in the evenings with the log stove going .The bedrooms were all really good sizes and the kitchen had everything you needed . I would definitely stay here again .
I have to be honest there was nothing that I didn’t like about the property and although we didn’t have any problems Bob and Zoe left their numbers for us to contact them if we needed .

spacious warm and comfortable
Good location. Warm and comfortable. Beds very comfortable. Really enjoyed the heated towel rail keeping the bathroom warm. lovely pub only a mile or so The ship inn with great food. Good parking out side of property. Sea views from the front bedrooms. Easily sleep 9 people comfortably, though with only one bathroom and toilet could be problematic for 9 people . we had fresh milk tbags coffe and sugar and some Welsh teacakes left so we could enjoy a cuppa and snack on arrival.
A minor issue was only one key, nearly had a fit when the door closed and I thought the key was inside luckily my brother just picked it up but could of been a disaster if he hadn't as there would of been no way back in. would recommend a 2nd key that could be left in safe for that purpose.
Lack of communication with with owner or anyone. First night we had a problem with the tv (never did figure it out, had we had children would be of been a real issue) just wanted a little advice, tried the booking. com messaging & phone number given from owners, no response.
next day the overflow pipe was pouring water so thought we'd inform the owners in case of any issues they might wantvto know,. this time used the number given on the kitchen wall. again absolutely no response. which takes me back to the first issue with the key, had we been locked out we had absolutely no response from from any of the 3 ways of communication and would of been locked out without our stuff. There should be an emergency number and it should be responded to even if only an acknowledgement.

Great space and value for money
Facilities are great. Fabulous space for 6 people. Location also excellent. Liked the welcome basket especially the biscuits. Beds all very comfy.
Bed linen and towels clean and smelled fresh.
Garden and house are beautiful. Yes not perfect but for the price it was amazing. It would be great to visit when the weather is nicer to enjoy the outside more. The local pub was really friendly and loved visiting with the dogs.
Great considerations with stair gates, the one outside was really useful as the dogs needed supervising when using the full garden.
Whilst I wouldn't call it dirty it could do with a little attention to some areas. Old dog poo found in garden and difficult to collect with no spade. Maybe a few more glasses and tea spoons as we struggled with 4 glasses ( 4 normal and 4 wine) and 2 teaspoons. Couldn't find a welcome pack but managed to work out the heating system and was toasty warm with the fire on.
Be careful with children as I slipped twice on the floor near the back door, a longer door mat would've helped from coming in from outside. All of these are meant as small points that would've improved our stay. We would definately visit again if in the area and had a great stay but these few little things would have really made it exceptional. Just don't expect perfection as the price doesn't indicate this. Taps are slow upstairs but the shower is excellent.

The stay was lovely, however the property did have some faults see above.
N/A
The sign for the house could do with being bigger and lite up when it is dark, as very difficult to find in the dark. Didn't understand the heating system, and the water pressure in the bathroom was very poor, hardly any running water in the sink, couldn't get a bath as the water just dripped. Couldn't get any food delivery's to the house.

Cold. Disappointing. Would not return or recommend.
The grocery-pack on arrival was helpful.
Property wasn’t as advertised! It wasn’t detached - the exterior photograph was taken at night giving the illusion of being detached. The property isn’t actually called “Ash Rock House” as advertised - this caused confusion when trying to find the property, there is no reason to advertise using an English name for a property that has a Welsh one. For a property sleeping nine, only having one bathroom was completely inadequate, a second ground floor bathroom is needed. The bottom half of the handrail on the staircase was missing which was a major health and safety risk and surely doesn’t comply with building regulations? There were plenty of logs for the log burner but no kindling to actually get a fire started. Heating was by underfloor heating, but there was no information on how to operate these / adjust temperature and in most rooms didn’t appear to work anyway. Other than the living area and kitchen, the rooms were sparsely furnished. Some features were clearly unfinished giving the feeling of a work-in-progress project. ‘Free private parking is possible on site' implies within the property. In reality parking is just road-side.

Very good
Very nice house, large enough for the whole family, good facilities and good location for exploring the area. We liked the welcoming set of eggs, milk, etc!

Lovely house in a great location
Ash House was a lovely house, quiet and private. well furnished and clean. Very spacious for a party of three. Kitchen well equiped. Good shower room.
The location is fantastic for Pembrokeahire sight seeing.
There's a view to the ocean.
The price was very good.
For a large group one bathroom and toilet might not be enough.

Bad
The size of the property was really good.
We booked to stay for 2 nights in December, but only stayed for 1 as the house was filthy, dog hair everywhere, broken glass in the kitchen, filthy bathroom floor with other people's hair, clumps of dog hair under the coffee table. We've never stayed anywhere so dirty. Our socks ended up dirty from the floors and none of us wanted to shower as the bathroom floor was disgusting, Also in the kitchen draws there where dead spiders. It's a decent size house and could be lovely with some love & decent cleaners. We travelled 5.5hrs on the Friday and travelled home again on the Saturday morning. All in all a wasted trip we was absolutely gutted. We did contact the property owner when we got home to only receive a rude response and offered no money back in compensation. My advice.... avoid!!!

Weekend away for husbands 30th
The cottage is so big compared to photos I really wasn't expecting it to be so spacious. Really lovely location, very rural with not much around other than some good pubs and great food. Beautiful sea views right out your bedroom windows.
I Felt for the amount of people that is allowed to stay it really would benefit from a second toilet. As a family we found there was always a que for the bathroom, mainly the toilet. Also found the sofa to be uncomfortable but that could of easily been fixed with some scatter cushions.

Good
The home was comfortable and homely. We really appreciated the hamper that was left and the welcome book also directing us to local amenities. The house was a good base with some lovely beaches around to enjoy. Would 100% recommend this property to anyone, and would love to stay there again in the future.
Noticed whilst preparing evening meals that there was no extractor fan in the kitchen.

Poor
Peaceful location
I travel around and work as a holiday accommodation reviewer and stayed in hundreds of self catering holiday homes.
It was a lovely cottage in lovely location, however the cottage has so much potential to be so much better.
We were very disappointed by the lack of hygiene inside the property, underneath the granite chopping board on the kitchen work surface was rotting slime, it actually turned us off eating in there.
There were no covid deep clean precautions taken, every electric switch, handle and touch point was unclean, upon arrival we had to clean everything ourselves! Which wasn't a great start to our family short break.
Pillows on all beds were flat, old and overly used which doesn't set a clean crisp bed linen good impression, regarding how many other guests had laid their head on the bed pillows before me. Duvet covers were worn and shabby.
Bathroom sink tap and bath tub tap pressure were so poorly that they were almost unusable. Toilet was dirty.
Paint work in living room and one front bedroom needs a refresh, was dirty damp patches everywhere.
Every corner in every room had died spiders on cobwebs.
Rear garden wasn't tidy and needed weeding.
Spare blankets in living basket were dirty, pillows on sofa were flat and worn.
Good points, mattress on beds were comfy, the house was reasonably warm at night, and the location was peaceful.
Overall this property was below mediocre, and desperatey in need of redecoration, refurbishment and a good deep clean.

Good
A good spot for easily touring the local area. Many beaches within easy reach.
The house was very spacious in a quiet location with a wonderful sea view from the bedrooms. Comfortable beds, all with plenty of pillows. The bathroom was fabulous with a super shower. The sitting room was huge with a great wood burner and large comfy sofas. Lots of local guide books etc. and we enjoyed playing the games.
Underfloor heating was luxurious and it was useful to have a washing machine/dryer.
We wished we were staying a few more days. Thank you.
Unfortunately, the kitchen needed spring cleaning: cupboard doors and drawers were dirty; inside cupboards were unclean; oven ; ledges etc. Some places were a bit dusty with cobwebs and the rear window frames needed cleaning. The rest of the house was great!
However, the kitchen was well equipped, so if it was cleaned thoroughly, it would be fine.
