The Shambles - The Timbered Nest

Step out onto the Shambles. It was gorgeous, the kitchen was full sized with everything we needed. We were in the heart of everything and it was nice and warm on those cold nights.

The apartment is well appointed but the bed was only a double which was challenging for my 6 foot 3 husband and I to fit comfortably. It’s a small space and appreciate it would be hard to get anything bigger in there and it was a small trade off for all the benefits!!

Loved the location, in the heart of The Shambles, just a short walk away from York Minster, pubs and shops.

All those stairs! 😮‍💨 Made difficult after dark as there was no lights on in the stairwells to guide us upstairs safely

The location was super despite the 55 steps up stairs to reach the top floor.

There wasn't adequate room for the person nearest the wall to get out of bed without disturbing the other person. There was wear and that needs attention, mentioned it and am sure it will be dealt with. Next time I'll try and book one of the apartments on the lower floors.

The location was excellent right on The Shambles

The apartment was roasting when we arrived. The internal doors are all self closing and quite heavy and there was only one door stop so we had to try to prop open the sitting room door to cool the place down. There are too areas where the laminate flooring is in urgent need of repair and could potentially cut your feet if you walked in bare feet. We were only given one set of keys and the door buzz didn't work so we had to go down 3 flights of stairs to let each other in. We booked for 4 people but only one bed was made up. We had to put the duvet cover and pillow cases on for the other bed ourselves. There were no coat hooks to hang our jackets. There was a welcome pack with stuff for tea but no shower gel or shampoo is provided.
