The house was in a good location. Easy reach of shops and pubs. The bedrooms were lovely and so was the bathroom.

The living room heating was not enough for the size of room. The sofa was very uncomfortable and needs to be replaced. The coffee table was tiny . There was not a clothes air drier at the property.

Warm and cosy with excellent location with Barnard Castle only a short distance away. The property had all the things you would need for a short break. Impressed the instruction manuals for grill and oven were supplied so we could figure out the controls.

Great location for exploring Barnard Castle on foot. Parkking right outside property very straightforward and free. The property had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Thank you for the welcome pack of biccys / eggs / milk etc.

Great location for our needs and the park with play area opposite the cottage was lovely. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay. Beds were very comfortable too. We hope to be back next year 😀 Thank you

Beautiful cottage in a lovely position

The cottage was lovely and in an ideal location. It was so quiet, yet only minutes from the main street. The kitchen had everything we needed, the living room was spacious and comfortable. Upstairs was just as nice. We will definitely stay there again.

Generally a quiet location overlooking park. Plenty to do in surrounding area.

Our stay was most disappointing. Having read all the reviews, I had high expectation - especially of the level of cleanliness (something that is really important to us). Unfortunately we found the cottage to be dirty and grubby. I took a glass out to discover it was sticky externally and dirty internally, others in the cupboard were dirty too. Then a pot was dirty, the food having not been cleaned off properly and another dirty on the outside. The sofa is grubby, on the arms especially (perhaps cream was a poor choice for a rental?) and uncomfortable- you can feel the frame and it is difficult to get out off, due to the collapse of the stuffing. It needs replacing. In the shower room the silicone sealant around the base of the shower and the sink has badly discoloured and urgently needs replacing as it is black. The shower screen had not been well cleaned. There are grubby marks on the bathroom door from numerous dirty fingers. But the worst of all was when I pulled back the bedside table to find a tangle of cobwebs, dust and a live insect living there! (see photos) It was at this point that I thought I am not going to be staying here! Unfortunately is was late evening and I couldn't do much about it! My husband cleaned behind the cabinet and the one on his side too, which was equally as dirty but no live insects! Further inspection of the other bedroom revealed just as dusty areas behind the bedside tables there too. The lampshade in our bedroom was so covered in dust it look like the glass was opaque, after my husband cleaned it you could see it was actually clear!(see photos). I have never felt the need to try to change my holiday cottage but I did attempt to find another one in Barnard Castle, unfortunately I was unable to find alternative accommodation at such sort notice. So we stayed for 4 of the 5 nights we booked but left a day early as just wanted to get back to our clean home. Baffled how this place has such high marks especially for cleanliness???
