Southernwood - Garden Lodge 1

Good location for our needs, visiting a friend in Didcot. The lodges are a very good price by today's standards, and are pretty well equipped if a little basic. There are a few cups, glasses, crockery etc, enough for a short stay but I don't think I would want to properly self cater (just a couple of old-school electric rings and a microwave) - but enough if you just want to make a few drinks, ping a meal etc. It had a decent size fridge with freezer box too. Nice big towels, plus hand towels, as well as toiletries which we weren't expecting. The beds were very comfy which I also wasn't expecting at this price - also being able to park up with loads of spaces is a great bonus. Plenty of plug sockets too, also handy, plus a table and chairs. All in all, I think these are a great budget-price option - this is the second time we have stayed and will do again the next time we are visiting our friend in Didcot.

The bathrooms are starting to look a bit mouldy in places, and I think a hairdryer in each lodge would be sensible, that's just something you get in most places. I did ask about this and they have a couple that are available on request. They said one would be put in my lodge which hadn't materialised but I had packed my own as it happened. It's just a small thing that one would expect in any accommodation without having to ask for one. The lodge we were in was a bit chilly in the morning so I think in winter it would be cold, the only heater we could see was down the back of the spare bed, so inaccessible and even if on, would just heat the bed.

Clean, quiet and nice location!

Quiet, clean and in good location.

Off road parking. Good sized room with kitchenette.

Bedding seemed worn. Hair found in shower on arrival. No contact with any staff. Felt a little exposed as a woman traveling alone. Left a day early at own expense.
