La Venelle des Greniers à Sel

Great location in the centre of Honfleur.

Would like to see some basic foodstuffs provided.

We stayed in Honfleur for a week and very much enjoyed our visit. Our apartment, in Venelle des Greniers à Sel, had two large bedrooms, each with king size beds. The bedrooms were located one floor above the living space of a two floor apartment, the bedrooms were within the attic space of the building so had sloping ceilings. The stair from the living space to the bedrooms had 11 steps. The building was located in the centre of the historic old town area which made it very convenient for walking to town attractions, shops and restaurants. Access to the bedrooms was by a steep stair with a quarter turn - so the treads were triangular and somewhat narrow. The living space of the apartment consisted of a large living/dining room, kitchen, bathroom with a generous sized shower and separate WC. The apartment was located on the second floor above grade, deuxième étage (2e). Access to the living space of the apartment was by means of four steps from street level to the entry lobby, then 23 steps (with intermediate landings) to the living space. The stair was fairly steep but negotiable. We caution about the number of pieces of luggage - especially for someone such as myself with breathlessness issues. All improvements to the apartment, including furniture, bedding, flooring, cabinetry in both kitchen and bathroom, windows, window coverings and general decoration was new and professionally designed. The kitchen was well supplied with appliances (new) and equipment. The apartment was very suitable for home meals on the days we elected not to restaurant.

The most significant issue, for us, was safety during negotiation of the stairs from the bedrooms to the washroom and bathroom on the main apartment level. We strongly recommend to the hosts that improvements be made to the handrails of the stair. It would have been better for us had the WC and bathroom be on the same level as the bedrooms - however, space requirements has made this impossible. WiFi was somewhat spotty however it was free of charge and included in the rental charge.

The location is absolutely perfect for Honfleur. It is very close to the water front but in a quieter street nearby. A good car park is only 5 minutes walk away.

The location is very good near everything in Honfleur.The apartment was clean and the lady was helpful on departure.

The wall in one bedroom was really bad with the paint creeping off. In the afternoon and mornings there was noise from the busy street below.
