A place over the sea, you can observe easily aurora borealis. You can hear waves behind your window.
A bit pricey - surely making use of its monopolist position in Aa: it is the only hostel there. Lofoten were once ruled by private monopolies, and you have the taste of it here.
All contact with the staff was remote. And the staff was new to the place too.
The building was badly lit in the night thus a bit hard to find at that time.
Kitchen could be a bit larger.

Very accessible from ferry and downtown.

Absolutely stunning spot, and very clean for a hostel!
I didn’t feel very safe as a solo traveller due to the way in which keys were provided (I was in the girls’ dorm for safety reasons and it would have been easy for someone from the male dorm with bad intentions to get into my room due to how the keys were left).

Nice hostel. I was visiting for 3 nights in the calm season of November. Very clean and tidy.

We stayed at Lofoten Å HI Hostel for 1 night, which was a short yet comfortable experience. We were traveling to Lofoten without a car and unfortunately our ferry from Bodø to Moskenes was late, so we arrived around 1 a.m. and missed the bus. Luckily some kind strangers gave us a lift and helped with our luggage. The hostel looks like one of the classic red Rorbuer from the area. It has clean bedding, plenty of showers, and space for luggage. The kitchen is always open, so we could grab water when we arrived, and the check-in instructions from the staff were very clear. Just outside the hostel there is a small viewpoint perfect for morning tea. The next day we took the bus to Reine and since the bus stop is right outside the hostel, it was very convenient. Å itself is such a beautiful fishing village and the hostel made us feel very comfortable. We could've easily stayed longer. 😊

Very nice and clean hostel with the beautiful views. Bus stop very close to the hostel.

the position
Unfortunately, the price is always high, in line with that of the Lofoten Islands, high for the service offered.

I liked the room, the kitchen, and the fact that I could wash my clothes and they had a drying rack for me to hang my clothes to dry.
The first person I met at checking in did not provide me with a token for the washing machine. I heard from another guest at the hostel about the facilities. I had to go back to get my token.

The location was lovely!
The room was quite hot and having the window open in the night brought some midges into the room.

Could not get a better location with views overlooking the water and situated in the village center of Å. Easy contactless check in, we had a room with 4 bunks and plenty of space to move about. Very clean, organized and safe. Excellent vibes

The location is great. Close to the bus station.
Nothing.

A very affordable and convenient option, at a prime kocation
A minor point is that the bunk beds are creaky and not very solid. It’s impossible to not make the bed shake and squeak when moving in or out, waking up all others in the room.

Great location. I love the dining/working table in the room that I can share with my dorm mate. The view from my room is amazing. There is a shared kitchen and two shower room. The host and other guests were friendly. Check-in instructions were very clear, and the host provided a helpful map and information.
It seems that someone took my key/ the owner forgot to leave the key and I had to call and wait for my key. The shower water was not warm enough. And you have to make your bed (linen is provided, but you have to put it on).

The hostel was clean, and the other guests were quiet and considerate. The rooms were a good size, each equipped with a dining table, allowing guests to share the kitchen while still having the option to eat privately.

This is a very simple hostel, and is in its simplicity that I found it very functional. I guess Å as well is a landmark for simplicity: it's essential but exactly in that lies the beauty of the place. Rooms need better curtains though, it was difficult to sleep with the midnight sun! Everything else was great: good WiFi, good kitchen, washing machine with tokens available, dedicated parking spot a nice a small nice kitchen. The bathrooms were small but had heated floors which made showering nice. There's no proper common area but a sofa in the hallway which to be honest is not very comfortable to sit on. I am nitpicking though: I liked the place! If this is your gateway to Lofoten (arriving from Bodø via ferry for example) it's a good place to stay, especially as an alternative to Reine or Hamnøy, assuming you have a car or otherwise have planned moving around. I saw no staff but I messaged them and they were helpful and nice, so still self check-in will be the way here!
See above - curtains should be a must!

Loved the view from the female dorm, also great spot to go for a lovely hike at the coast and visit some local museums.

Beautifully located room in the old stockfish museum. Easy walk to the restaurant and plenty of parking. The room was comfortable and warm, and the beds were excellent. Great showers too, with good pressure.

Everything perfect for me. Full kitchen, wifi, location, comfortable room, quiet. View.

Located at the end of Lofoten Island, the accomodation is realised inside some typical small red houses used in the past by fishermen.
Room was warm enough. Correct dimensions for 3/4 people for a medium or short stay.
Place for car in front of the houses is avilable.
Facing the sea, the room offered a suggestive view.
Kitched was not so well accesorized. Only the bare minimum or even less compared to other structures in Lofoten.
A is a very small village, remember to bring everthing with you (especially in winter).

It’s a nice hostel in A. Rooms are nice, good view. Warm and confi.
There is not space within the hostal to sit down to eat, you have to do it in your own room.

Very nice vibe and great location. Clean facilities.
Finding the right place at night is a challenge.

Location, sunny terrace to have a meal at, big and well equipped kitchen/dining room.
The walls at the shower rooms were a bit damp, could use a refresh. Not bad smell at all, though.

Easy and quick check-in, perfect location, kitchen had everything we needed, nice room for two with a beautiful view from the window.
Everything was perfect for our needs!
Common area/kitchen table could’ve been nice. We did though have a table with chairs in our room and enjoyed our meal there. The smell of fish was a little bit disturbing at first but it was understandable because they had fish museum downstairs (which was unfortunatelly closed when we were there).
The walls are pretty thin so bring your ear plugs if you are a light sleeper!

Great, cozy room, tasteful furniture with a nice view. Very friendly, helpfull staff. Top kitchen with all the supplies one could need. Nice showers, high cleanliness all around.
Not much common area to mingle in the red Hostel building (the other, white building hat a lot of common room).

Staying in an old, cute house
The kitchen facilities are too little when many people cook and eat. Some stoves don't work.

Good position near the ferry to Bodo, good hostel if you want to meet someone because you are travelling alone
The price is too high for an hostel, with 20€ more you can stay in a way more better location

It is a hotel that is easy to find, the common facilities are good and clean. It has the sight on the sea. the kitchen is efficient and you will find what you are looking for.
Not sure about which room was mine. To get to the reception you need to go outside

Very nice place and for a very affordable place. Really close to the ferry.
Some of the equipment were a bit old but still in good working order

comfy, clean, great location
building was empty, didn’t see a single person during our stay, no staff, no other guests.
8.0 / 10.0
Amazing view over the ocean, clean and modern wc / shower, comfortable beds.
Å is an amazing little town, very peaceful.
0 staff at the reception, 0 instructions given for the check-in, impossible to join them via WhatsApp/ Booking or by phone.
I had to discover by myself how to check in by entering in the building because there was nobody, which is pretty scary.
