Retiro do Castelo

Lovely accomodations in an updated apartment that felt very clean and pleasant. The outdoor space and view is beyond fantastic. Really appreciated the host providing coffee, tea, etc. All appliances and finishes are newly updated, great hot water showers, and it was a really nice stay. We were sad to leave!

Nice clean house, good facilities, close to the key attractions, beautiful view of the valley, good parking, good communication with the owner.

The apartment is in a good location for visiting the old town of Obidos and there is free on-street parking close by. There are two bathrooms, which means that you don’t have to go up and/or down the stairs each time you need to use the bathroom. The bed is comfortable, other than the fitted sheet and mattress protector that didn’t stay tucked in under the mattress (so it ended up bunched up underneath us). The apartment worked well for us for our one night stay.

There is a washing machine in the apartment, which we used, but it doesn’t indicate how long a cycle goes for - it would be helpful to know. And there is a drying rack, but there were only 3 pegs to hang the washing with and it was quite breezy out on the balcony where we put the washing to dry (we went and bought our own pegs). The apartment is on the main road into Obidos and there is a bit of traffic noise, which didn’t bother us at night, but if you’re a light sleeper it might not suit you.

We were provided a code to unlock a lock box with the keys inside, but the code didn’t work.
