Aeolus House

Location was brilliant & very much home from home. Our front door key snapped in the lock but called the emergency number and we were rescued within an hour fantastic service thank goodness

The mattress needs replacing (both) very lumpy really uncomfortable. The key pick up point was a bit confusing we were told by email to go to Decourcey house which we couldn’t find at first.

No handrail on stairs to kitchen - a rope rail would help En-suite bathroom door would not close properly and could not be locked

Great location. Lovely view from the top bedroom. Entire house. Because of the location it's worth the hassle of dealing with Sykes Cottages (or Coast & Country, not sure who's who) as long as you consider and plan for the bad bits.

Communication. The property is operated/owned?.. by Sykes cottages. (The office is Coast & Country)?.. I was bombarded with very long messages and emails repeating the same information, except how and where to get the keys. It was near impossible to get an answer from Sykes. After many attempts I finally got instructions for key collection the day before arrival. Key collection. Keys and parking permit must be collected from an office or lock box across the village Parking. The permit issued was only valid for a car park across the village. This was not coherently explained so I got a parking fine for using the permit outside the property. En-suite bathroom. The sink was almost unusable because of a shelf fitted too close to the sink. Frustrating. The water pressure was dismal and completely stopped mid-shower and from basin taps and on multiple occasions when water was being used elsewhere in the property. This made washing in the en-suite a soapy risk. More frustrating. The shower enclosure and shower itself had black mould and had to be cleaned. Living room. We had fleas appear on our persons. I presume these were a legacy from previous tenants with pets. Bedroom. The top en-suite bedroom has a very poor party wall with what seems to be a hardboard partition separating the bay window in the middle from the property nextdoor. The property next door seems to have the living room at the top based on the noise from multiple occupants talking loudly late into the night. We could literally and clearly hear every loud word as if we were in the same room with them. The mattress in this bedroom felt completely decrepid. Location. Busy road from early hours. Bedrooms are on the road side of the property. This wouldn't put me off staying again, but it was noisy in the early mornings. *Not a dislike for me, but... Lots of steps from downstairs/basement kitchen to top bedroom.
