Quinta das Malvas - Quinta de Santa Luzia

Our stay at Quinta das Malvas was one of the highlights of our trip to Madeira. The house has a very special atmosphere - elegant, quiet, and full of history, but at the same time warm and comfortable. It felt much more personal than a typical hotel stay. The room was spacious and very pleasant, and we really enjoyed the views and the peaceful surroundings. Breakfast was fresh and enjoyable, with local touches that made every morning feel relaxed. A special thank you to Margarida for her kindness and helpful recommendations. She made us feel truly welcome and gave us useful tips for exploring the island. The location worked very well for us, especially with a car, as it was easy to start our day trips around Madeira. We would happily stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable place to stay.

Lovely location just outside of main centre of Funchal. Amazing friendly staff who made the stay!

Don’t rely on buses! Use Uber/ Bolt instead as usually more reliable and take you exactly where you need to go, plus save walking up steep hills!

The space has a lot of potential and old charm. The grounds are beautiful and the yard offers a nice view of Funchal. For me, this was generally a good location from which to explore. It’s a fairly short (and pretty) walk to the downtown (about 20 minutes, down a very steep hill) and an affordable Bolt ride back up.

I expect a considerably higher level of cleanliness from an accommodation. Do not stay here if you are afraid of spiders.
