Charnwood Regency Guest House

The location was good for us as we wanted somewhere close to the Great Central Railway station. We also wanted to be able to walk into town for dinner to leave the car behind so we could enjoy a few drinks. The establishment was very clean. We only interacted with one member of staff and found him to be very friendly, helpful and courteous. Definitely couldn’t fault his customer care and service. We were treated very well to be honest.

I sleep lightly and noise, light and temperature are all contributors to me not sleeping well. I was concerned that this establishment is on a main road, in particular my room faced onto it. However, although my room was affected quite significantly by traffic noise, after about 21:00 the level of traffic was almost imperceptible and so it wasn’t a problem for me. We left at 07:00 the following morning (a Sunday) so the traffic hadn’t really started to be much of a problem. I did find the room to be uncomfortably warm and the opening window, being limited by a security link, didn’t let in much air. There was a tower fan in the room and this was quite effective but too noisy to keep going while I slept. By 23:00, the room had cooled down enough to no longer be uncomfortable. The room has a pair of flimsy curtains which did allow a fair amount of light in, even after dark and during these long summer days, light started to enter the room from around 05:30. Seeing I was up around 06:30 though, this proved not to be too much of a problem. In the end, I actually slept quite soundly through the night. Finally, the room I was in (J) had its own shower room & toilet but it wasn’t en-suite. The room itself is situated at the top of the building at the top of its own staircase. I think it would be better if a door was provided at the bottom of the stairs and the main door to the room removed to make this a self-contained room with an en-suite bathroom.

The room had everything but was a little tired. The shower room did get very wet.

Breakfast was superb as I was travelling for business I had my own reserved table which was a really nice touch and the breakfast was plentiful, to exact order and hot. Very well done!

all the staff were really lovely my room was large warm and with a 46 inch smart tv that had all the channels you tube etc didn't have the breakfast but it looked good the restaurant and lounge all looked freshly decorated and modern, I have no problem in recommending the Regency for your stay

shame that there was no evening meal available, outside paintwork could do with a freshen up as the inside is really good

The room was pretty large and comfortable. The bathroom is small compared to the room size but just fine for a short stay. Easy parking and short distance walk into town.
