Charnwood Regency Guest House

I was recommended this guest house by a colleague who has stopped a few times before when visiting the university. The staff were really helpful with a quick check in which I appreciated having had such a long day. The room was absolutely spotless. They even had a bar which was wonderful. The decor is lovely and everything was so clean. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room. I even had a fan in the room which was great given this heat!

I didn’t realise that breakfast was not included in the price, but this was my fault as it is clear on booking.com. They have options for breakfast if you do not want a full cooked.

The location was good, not too far from the centre of town. The room was spacious and clean. I had an ensuite which was roomy.

The shower was not easy to turn off after use and the dial just kept circling without turning the water off. The mattress was not particularly comfortable. There was something that bleeped several times every couple of minutes, this continued throughout the night! The rooms had very thin walls and I could hear my 'neighbours' throughout my stay. On arrival I rung the bell on the reception door, it took almost 5 minutes for someone to finally open the door, I was in the process of finding the hotel number to call when she eventually answered, she was very blase and said that she had been in the lounge and didn't hear the bell, this is not a good first impression for a guest. I had just had a 3 hour drive and just wanted to be in my room and not hanging around witing for a door to be answered.

Everything! So clean and comfortable. Staff were absolutely fantastic and friendly. Swift check in. Close to town if you want to go out for food or for take outs. Breakfast was plentiful.

Did not stay for breakfast. Room basic, nobin in bathroom only bedroom. Shower had black mould around sealant.
