Maison de la Loire

For context I was Cycling from Arbroath to Barcelona on my touring bike for a charitable cause. I'd had a really challenging day on the bike due to navigation issues travelling from Troyes to La Charite Sur Loire. I'd gotten lost, which meant that I'd had to reroute, adding time and distance to what was already a 160 KM day in the saddle. By 8pm I still had some distance to go to reach La Charite and knew that I was going to arrive late and by late I mean the early hours of the morning. Henry had been communicating with me via the booking.com messaging service to check everything was okay on my journey as I had explained in previous messages the purpose of my journey and my stay and he was a cyclist himself. I didn't reach my destination until 2am a time when most hosts would have written me off as a now show, but not Henry! It was dark and late but on nearing the location I heard a voice from the end of a lane calling it was Henry ensuring I didn't fly by the entrance to his property. No real words were exchanged that night apart from where I could park my bike and what time did I require breakfast. The following morning after after some sleep and a shower I was treated to a lovely breakfast where I got a chance to apologise for my lateness and seek some advice on how to proceed with my journey. I found Henry to be really helpful, charming and intelligent and a real champion . I probably spent longer at breakfast chatting to my host putting the world to rights and exchanging views than was polite, but not a thing was said. I cannot thank Henry enough for the kindness, compassion and empathy he displayed without him a journey that had been a year in the planning and less than 50% complete at the time of our meeting could have gone so differently that night. I booked the property because I believed that I would experience true French culture and I was not disappointed by either the property or what I can only describe as a truly amazing host.

Malgré l’âge avancé et la difficulté à se faire comprendre (dame d’origine Allemande) , cette dernière est très gentille et très avenante pour que le séjour se passe bien.

Pas wc ni douche dans la chambre. Portes difficiles à ouvrir ou fermer.
