Welcome the Fairthorne Cottage where Classic Victorian meets luxury. Built in 1880, this Classic Victorian is located in magnificent downtown Cape May and is only steps to the beaches, shopping and dining. Enter the home from Ocean Street into a glass enclosed and air-conditioned front porch which is perfect for people watching. The first level offers a living room; den; chef s kitchen; dining room; powder room; and full bathroom. Level two includes three suites, each with private bathrooms. The third level includes two full bedrooms; one with a king size bed and the other with 2 twin beds and a full bath. Luxury features include a gourmet kitchen with 2 Wolf Ovens, a Wolf-5 burner gas range, custom cabinetry and granite counters; hardwood floors; coffered ceilings; and tiled bathrooms with glass enclosed showers. Luxury 500 count thread sheets and towels are included in the rate for peak season rentals. The linen package can be added for off-season, short-term rentals for $365.Parking spaces for 2 cars. Shared driveway with neighbors. Tenants do not have access to garage. 8 Beach Chairs for tenants use. Short term stays available in the off season. Inquire within for availability and rates. The “cottage” is in the perfect location—2 blocks from the beach and 2 blocks from Washington Square. The cottage is also within walking distance of a well-stocked grocery store. We had 6 adults and 2 children (2 yrs and 18 months) and there was plenty of room to spread out and eat meals together in the dining room. Each bedroom had a bathroom, which was great. One complaint is many windows were without screens, and it was perfect screen weather. Also, there was no lawn area for play, but that’s what the beach is for. We had 3 cars so we used the two spaces at the house and street parking, which was easy to find right next to the house. There were lots of beach toys and inside toys to keep the kids busy. There was a hodgepodge of kitchen utensils, pots and pans, and dishes scattered around in different cupboards. All my past VRBO rentals had been in the south and west, and I’ve never had to rent sheets and towels before (except during COVID). Counting and repackaging them for pickup claimed much of our packing/cleaning time.

Perfect location to enjoy all that Cape May has to offer. The house is spacious, clean, cozy (we really appreciated the throw blankets as the weather was chilly) and well appointed. We all loved the ice maker in the kitchen. We highly recommended Fairthorne Cottage for any group looking for a stay in Cape May.

Charming old Victorian former bed & breakfast, so much fun to stay here and have the whole place to ourselves! The sun porch is for sure the highlight, a perfect place to gather both morning and evening. It was still cold while we were there but plenty warm on the porch, especially with the little electric fireplace going. The place has many of the quirks you'd expect from an old house, and could be more thoughtfully cleaned and maintained, but none of that detracted from our enjoyment. Great place!

We had an amazing stay and loved how well equipped the house was. The house was in a perfect location and the decor was lovely in all rooms!! It was an awesome time and we will be back again next year!
