About this house rental

This centrally located three-bedroom holiday home with Wi-Fi sits amongst native bush. The large deck and BBQ area is the perfect place to congregate and enjoy a nice relaxed meal and drink with friends and family, And afterwards, Enjoy a short walk to the beach, wharf and heart of the Paihia township.

There are a number of hidden gems in the area to explore. Experience the Hole in the Rock dolphin cruise from Paihia or Russell, visit the Waitangi Treaty grounds, paddleboard or kayak the outer islands with Bay of Islands Kayaking, or visit the Packhouse Market (on the weekend) in Kerikeri offering the best in Northland produce.
Please note that this property has a very steep driveway that is not boat friendly.This property is the second level of the house, and is accessed by stairs.As the deck barrier is below 1 metre high, all guests should take care in this area due to the risk of falls. Please note that the fireplace shown on the photos is not available for guest use.Please note a bond may be charged at certain times of the year. I can’t fault the house. It was very clean and tidy. The kitchen facilities were all there and in working order. Great to have access to Netflix. Here was the issue. First is the very steep and dark drive way. I like property with easy access. This was not easy access. Once you got to the top of the drive you have to do a 3 point turn to be able to leave. This was not fun on a slope. The second issue is that the house is a shared property. This means there is a rental under the house. And they parked in our car park and put up their washing on the other side of our car park. I had hired a large car due to 4 adults. And barely squeezed in the remaining park. I rechecked the advertisement and there was nothing about sharing the property or a photo of the steep part of the drive. If I had known about both those issues I would have found another place to stay.

Spacious and comfortable Paihia bach

Spacious and comfortable Paihia bach

A spacious and well-appointed bach in a great location, perfect for a short or long stay. Overall we were very happy with the property and although we did not meet the property manager she responded very quickly to the one query I had soon after arrival. There were one or two minor niggles that we didn't bother her with during our stay but which, if addressed, would improve the stay for future guests. These concerned the blinds in the bedroom with en suite bathroom and the door to the other bathroom. There was no tilt wand to open the slats on one blind and on the other although there was a wand it didn't really work. As for the bathroom door, it probably needs rehanging as it drags on the floor, making a very unpleasant noise and potentially damaging the floor. Aside from that everything was fine and we appreciated having things like kitchen roll and clingfilm, which are so often lacking in similar accommodation. We'd be very happy to return on future visits to Paihia.
