Hassop Cottage - Darwin Lake Holiday Village

What a great setup and location. The house was just perfect for what our large group needed. The grounds were lovely and we spent most evening with the kids playing games on the grounds. The weather was perfect, which helped. The manager is quite a character! I had a good chat about the village and such. The other houses were mostly a large group whose BBQ we managed to get an invite to ;-) Close to Matlock. We also did the Monsal Trail.

Hassop itself was pretty close to the septic tank so we got a smell every now and again waft through the open windows. It was a heat wave mind so hopefully it isn't normally as bad. We would definitely chose a building at the other end to combat this if we came again

Great accomodation in stunning location. Helpful, friendly staff.

Self catering. Location was perfect. Grandchildren aged 11 and 14 able to fish in the lake and were very successful.

More shelves in oven as we had to cook for 9 of us.

Close to Matlock, quiet and areas for kids to run about next to the lake, great base for the peaks

More toddler proofing will be welcome in hassop (TV loose on stand in living room) although cot beds and high chairs available. WiFi is great for email and browsing but not enough to stream. No biggy as on holiday and TV channels worked.
