A beautiful pub which does amazing food, but we probably wouldn’t stay again

We love coming back to the pub we used to visit often when we lived near, everyone is super friendly and welcoming.

What a lovely quirky place the Butchers arms is. It had a lovely country pub feel to it and the room was comfortable, clean and full of character. Staff were welcoming and couldn’t do enough for you.

Brilliant - would love to return for another stay

We loved everything about the Butchers Arms! We stayed for two nights as we attended a wedding at Clearwell Castle - the rooms were comfortable & had everything we needed and more. Breakfast compromised of various items located in the room and the fridge - milk, yoghurt, cereal, juice …. We also had an evening meal in the pub which was superb. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the service was great. Highly recommend for a perfect weekend break

The only advice is to take a mirror for getting ready / hair drying. There is is one in the bathroom

Good location and friendly welcome.

Friendly welcome, comfortable room with well stocked fridge for breakfast. I liked having breakfast in the privacy of my room and good to have a full size mug of tea. We were going to a wedding at the castle and it was very handy for that, a short walk up the road.

My friends were in the next room (there are just two rooms together) and I could hear them chatting and moving around and the extractor fan. Not a problem for us, we are friends, but something to know if you are a very light sleeper.

Good value for money

Ideal for what you need. Comfortable beds, lovely traditional pub and good service. We stayed for a wedding at Clearwell Castle and the location was perfect.

Disappointing stay

The location to the wedding venue was the only benefit

The beds were really uncomfortable with the quilt being tiny so every time you turned over to try and get more comfortable, a blast of cold air would hit you. No WIFI password was given nor was there any info in the room. The carpet hadn't been hoovered. The "continental" breakfast was minimal, more of a light breakfast. Shower pressure was terrible. I have emailed the establishment on 29th January but am still waiting to hear back

Great feel to the pub and restaurant, very good food indeed and we had a really good evening catching up with friends. Landlord sorted me a couple of ale collectibles - really appreciated!! Continental breakfast did the job!

Breakfast not as expected. Location excellent. Beds were comfortable. Room clean.

We assumed a cooked breakfast but instead a continental breakfast was supplied in the room. No choice offered. Storage space very limited. Inadequate surface area for items, especially for eating breakfast.

Great place to stay to enjoy the quiet countryside or attend a wedding at Clearwell Castle

The location was excellent for attending a wedding at Clearwell Castle. The manager Scott was very kind and helpful. The pub garden looked great and the food for breakfast was good and nice served in my room

I found it difficult to do my makeup and hair in the bathroom without a shelf to put items on and a longer mirror would have been helpful

Great B+B excellent location if a wedding guest at Clearwell Castle

Really convenient location as I was a guest at a wedding at the nearby Clearwell Castle. There was a good variety of breakfast options (muffins, granola, yoghurt, fruit etc) and liked that fresh milk was provided for hot drinks. Bed was very comfortable. Property were really accommodating to early check in request and there’s plenty of parking space.

Quaint building

It was a quaint room in a lovely location. The restaurant food was lovely and a nice continental breakfast was put in my room in the evening ready for me to eat at my convenience in the morning.

The bed was a little hard and made my hips ache. Unfortunately there was a problem with the T.V. luckily I had a book to read so it didn't concern me too much.

Lovely stay at the Butchers Arms

My Mum & Dad had a lovely stay at the Butchers Arms, and would not hesitate to stay again. They stayed on a Saturday night, the room was pleasant, very clean and had everything you would need. The service was very good, the staff were friendly and attentive. They enjoyed a very nice evening meal to celebrate their Anniversary.

great little find with everything you need for an overnight stay

it’s a cosy little place. Great location for a wedding at the castle being a stones throw away. check in was easy, as always. (this is our go-to place when we have weddings here) staff are accommodating. The continental breakfast is spot on with what’s provided. Beds are comfy, room was warm, the whole place was clean, good attention to detail here.

The location was perfect! We were attending a wedding at Clearwell Castle which was a short walk away.

My bed was uncomfortable, and as we were getting ready for a wedding a mirror in the room would have been useful. I liked the breakfast but my husband, daughter and her boyfriend were really disappointed.

Staff really hospitable and couldn’t be more helpful, would have preferred a cooked breakfast but understand the reason for offering a continental. The room was bijou but facilities great, the bed was super comfortable I struggled to wake my husband! The staff really made our stay lovely and we would absolutely stay again.
