1 Central Chambers

The location

It wasn’t clean and the beds were sub standard felt like you were sleeping on camp beds very noisy when you moved. No central heating however blow heating supplied. Minimal cooking receptacle’s bathrooms were filthy

It was very spacious, and it had everything you would need like kettle, washing machine, dishwasher, towels, body wash etc. There were games in the living room basket. The property was in the town centre which gave access to all facilities quickly.

No parking at the property although we parked all weekend at the multi-storey, which was very short walk. No traffic through the day, outside the front of the property but very busy at night and windows are not double glazed. The two single beds were very squeaky.

A group of 8, who were really looking forward to the stay, as we had stayed here the previous year and had nothing but good things to say. However 2 hours before check in (11am as we had payed for an early check in), I received a text from the host to say we were unable to stay in the property, and they would give us a refund. Bear in mind our whole party was on route to Stratford. The host was then uncontactable for the next few hours. When the host finally replied there was a lot of back and forth for the rest of the day until approximately 8pm when we were told we could stay there that night but had to check out the next morning. The reason, I was told we could not stay was there was a leak in the second bathroom. Multiple times i stated two bathrooms were not necessary and we could get by with just the one for our stay. Throughout my contact with the host, it did not seem, they saw cancelling our booking a few hours before our check in to be a big deal, when in fact it caused a lot of upset and stress, in what should have been a fun few days away with a group of friends. It was so disappointing, as the previous years stay had been so enjoyable, and the host was so lovely and friendly. This seems like the perfect apartment, especially for a large group of people, but this experience has really left a bad taste in all our mouths. I’d have to say even though our first stay here in 2024 was so positive, due to the outcome of this years stay i would not recommend booking.

The location was spot on as was the size of the apartment.

Where, can I start... The luggage drop off point is about 50mtrs away on a busy high street, you only have 5mins to unpack and move your car to a designated car park or face the consequences. This is pretty impossible with a family, however, Hannah the cleaner did help us with our bags, and she also pointed us in the direction of a car park which was closer on foot than to drive to... Just after we checked it the fire alarm sounded, there was a lot of activity in the lobby and residents didn't really know what to do until someone finally found the reset code. This happened twice within minutes of arrival. I contacted the host but no response. There is no central heating, I contacted the host about this too but again, no response, we did find small fan heaters but very inadequate. The sofas were very uncomfortable and if you are planning a night or two in with young children, then don't. There was aged rubbish under one of the beds and the wooden floors required essential deep cleansing with hot water and cleaning products. The shower heads need cleaning especially the jets which were clogged. The beds were old and squeaky and the mattresses need replacing. In reality the entire apartment requires a refurb...

The only thing is the location, but that is not enough. Avoid this place like the plague.

Everything. Filthy doesn't even begin to describe this apartment. Firstly there was no communication on the day of check in despite me contacting them several times in the days before check in. I arrived at the property snd happened to find a young lady in the apartment who gave me the keys. When I got into the apartment I was disgusted. The place had clearly not been cleaned after the previous guest had left. There was leftover stuff in the fridge, half empty and completely empty bottles of things in both bathrooms. The bathrooms were full of black mold, clearly had not been cleaned and even the mirrors were filthy. The place had not been hoovered as there were bits all over the floor. The carpets were disgusting, there were stains all over it, including black stains, dark red stains and white stains. The bedding was stained with all sorts of horrible stains and the beds were so uncomfortable. The bedroom with the 2 single beds is what I imagine prison cells to be like. The sofa in the main bedroom looked like something from the casting couch and the stains on that were again vile. The sofa in the main living room was no better, again covered in stains. The drawers in the kitchen were full of mess, filth and stains and again looked like it hadn't been cleaned ever, let alone after the previous guests. The wardrobes in the main bedroom had not doors and the ones in the other room was falling apart. All in all it was so bad I could not stay another second. I tried calling the property and was simply ignored. I had no other choice but to find somewhere else to stay at the last minute. I have been trying to contact them since for a full refund and I have not been able to make contact. Avoid this place like the plague as it is disgusting and the owners are robbing scammers.

The location

We had no heating or hot water for the duration of our stay. The owners refused to call me or send someone to the property. There was rubbish under the bed and in cupboards and drawers. I am Seeking a full refund but the owners are not responding to Booking.com. I have a full video of the flat showing the problems but unable to upload.

NOTHING. Having looked at the comments critiquing the accommodation it is clear that the standard expected has been neglected by the owners. Basic hygiene neglected, tired furnishing’s and bathroom maintenance lacking - not my comments, but those of previously dissatisfied guests. DO NOT book this property. Our booking was cancelled by the owner on the morning of the day of arrival with no clear explanation and no refund. To date (16 Sep 25) we have yet to receive any monies from Booking.com and it is now in dispute. Our weekend in Stratford upon Avon involved incurring additional accommodation charges due to last minute availability and late booking of alternative rooms in local guesthouse. A situation that has zero liability on the owners of 1 Central Chambers or Booking.com. Hoping to secure refund via banking dispute, but do not hold your breath. SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE.

ONLY positive thing is the location.

Apartment is poorly fitted out. Only 1 saucepan in the entire kitchen. Coffee machine had not been cleaned for a long time. Microwave was in a very poor condition. Carpets and walls were stained and marked. Shower heads are in need of replacing, they are filthy. Seems the host can even be bothered to hang up the pictures that have been left everywhere. No double glazing on the windows. This means it's hard to sleep at night due to the noise of traffic and the delivery to a local sandwich shop, just round the corner, at 0200 each morning. Poor communication with the host. Had to message an hour before arrival for instructions on how to enter the property. The key box which houses the keys is attached to a pipe opposite and is prone to slipping to the floor. The key box dials are very warn and difficult to rotate and to read the numbers. I have on several occasions messaged the host and had no response.
