Having to leave! The hotel has just been sold and we are hoping that the new owners maintain the look and feel of the place - it is truly unique and it’s impossible not to relax the moment you get there!

Just the most comfortable but quaint environment. So many nooks and crannies in a wonderful old building which has grown over hundreds of years and such beautiful grounds. And great staff! Thank you Danny, Charlotte and Matthew

Very warm welcome, beautifull garden and building and interior. Diner at the bistro next door. Great experience.

Beautiful building and gardens. Perfect location for exploring Callander and the surrounding area.
Rooms were large and furnished in keeping with the style and age of the building.
Bed was extremely comfortable and jacuzzi bath was an added touch of luxury.
Potting Shed Bistro was a perfect spot for a romantic, yet relaxed dinner and food was fantastic.
Nothing.

A lovely country house hotel with excellent communal rooms.
Our room felt a little cramped probably due to trying to fit modern conveniences and comfort into a 17th century building.

The hotel was beautiful from top to bottom, and our room was exceptionally spacious. Dan was an exceptional host who made us feel so welcome and took care of every detail. He always pointed us to the room with the best spot for pre- and after-dinner drinks in one of the beautifully decorated common areas, and the best spot for dinner. There was always a roaring fire going in every room. We really felt like we were living the high life here!! :)
Nothing - everything was outstanding.

The whole ambience was lovely and staff very friendly and helpful
The second night's dinner was virtually a replica of the previous night so I had the vegetarian option and it was very disappointing. Not good enough to change only one option for each course if clients are staying more than one night!
Also, we are having extreme difficulty obtaining a VAT receipt for our stay. When asked at the hotel, they said the receipt would be issued by Booking.com. Can you please check this out for us.
yours sincerely, Anne Forrest

Comfort as if being at home. Respect to the friendly staff.
Wasn’t able to stay linger on this trip.

Unique classic environment, specially elegant breakfast restaurant
Needs general maintenance, carpets in rooms, etc. Separates lavatory faucets so water is very cold or very hot . Small old ugly shed separated from main building acting as restaurant does not cover minimum expectations

Staff were amazing and location.
Needs serious TLC. Could be amazing if some money spent on it. Not 4 star if you stay in the rooms sorry.

It’s a gorgeous building and grounds in a very convenient location. Great value in every way. Great food in both the restaurant and the bistro. The staff could not do anymore to make our stay any better.
Maybe thin the trees to give a better view of the river? But I dare say that’s not allowed.

Good location and nice grounds. Hotel is traditional and quirky. Potting shed restaurant was really nice. Great food and lovely staff.
I just can’t see how they can justify such a high room price. And the breakfast of £19 per person is far too much for a very average breakfast.
Sorry but I was expecting so much more for the price.

Beautiful historic property, with large gardens & river access, but with the convenience of being in centre of Callander. Full of character and interest. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Bistro food was lovely, as was the breakfast.

Stunning property! We sat in the drawing room beside the huge fireplace most of the night. The staff were all great, so friendly and helpful. The grounds around the place are beautiful. We will definitely be back at Roman Camp for another stay!
There are some parts that are strangely dated. Not like the 1625 kind of dated but as if an attempt to modernise some parts had been made in the early 90’s. The fine dining room is a bit odd with flowers in a plastic wrap in water.
This didn’t detract from our stay as we chose to dine in the bistro which was so cute with fairy lights. And the young waiter there went out his way to get me the drink I wanted.

The quiet location. The food in the Bistro was excellent and all the staff were very friendly and helpful.
We were disappointed that the restaurant was closed on a Monday and a Tuesday but the Bistro was very good and just a short walk from the hotel.

The meal in the Potting Shed was excellent. The setting is superb and the living room is as beautiful as ever.
The dining room had a leaking ceiling and looked very tired.
My room was rather tired looking. The curtain could not close completely. The hotel was virtually empty so it would have been nice to have been offered an upgrade.
The hotel looks as though it needs some refurb.

We have had the pleasure of staying at Roman Camp a number of times. It is truly the most relaxing and charming hotel. On our most recent stay, we were blessed with wonderful weather, and sat for several hours sipping drinks under the trellises at the Potting Shed bistro, which was total bliss. Some fantastic new recruits have further enhanced the quality of this utter gem of a hotel. We can’t wait to go back!
Having to leave! There are some parts of the decor which look worn and shabby (chic!) but that only adds to the charm of the place. If you want glitz and bling, with none of the charm or soul, go to Gleneagles (and spend twice as much), but nowhere is remotely as good as Roman Camp!

The Roman Camp Country House is much more than a hotel. The feeling is that of staying in a beautiful English house of the 1800s, in the greenery, next to the river. There is a incredible park, the country house has many lounges, one more delightful than the other. The breakfast served at the table is very good and abundant. It is possible to have dinner at the restaurant or at the bistro, very nice. The location is exceptional, it seems to arrive in the land of fairy tales. Half an hour away there are castles, the highlands ... it is a magical place.
Everything was more than perfect

From the moment we arrived at the ancient arch and entered the driveway, we knew we had arrived at somewhere very beautiful.
Our welcome was warm and showed us to our room which was upgraded for us.
It was spacious and very comfortable.
Great bed and spotless throughout.
Having a nightcap in the gorgeous drawing room was so relaxing.
Unspoilt antique decor and seating. Sumptuous elegance!
Breakfast was served in the dining room which was excellent. Great choice and well cooked and presented.
A shout out to all the staff who were so polite and pleasant to engage with.
A walk through the walled gardens and along the river is a real pleasure.
A real gem set in beautiful countryside and well worth the drive to seek it out if visiting The Trossachs and Loch Lomand.

Some areas a little ‘tired’ looking. Nothing a good ‘refresh’ wouldn’t solve.
