Callander long weekend

This gorgeous, comfortable cottage was the perfect place for a long weekend with my sister. It was close to Callander and Doune. We liked that it was a detached cottage. The decor is modern and very well kept. There is an enclosed garden. The hosts left a very generous welcome package with homemade pancakes, butter, jam, cereal, milk, orange juice, tea and coffee. We highly recommend this cottage.

For families with young children and pets, the proximity to a fast, busy road may be off-putting. This didn't affect us.

Photos on app were not the same as when you went into cottage. Completely different. It looked bright and airy on photo. In actual fact it was dark and the smell as you enter was not nice. Kitchen was dirty, cupboard in kitchen full of paint tins and decor stull. Oven dirty inside. On websites advertised with bath, there was no bath and mould all over shower. Linoleum in bedrooms. Beds very uncomfortable. Cobwebs from light shades. In general cleaning terrible. Will never be back. Also cottage was directly on main busy road. Noisy.

It was warm and welcoming (just like our host) and definitely catered for all our needs.

It was handy to lots of sightseeing but THE most amazing stand out for us was our host “Rita”. She was so very helpful and presented us with loads of unexpected goodies (milk, bacon, eggs, home made fudge etc).

It was fairly pricey for two of us but bearing in mind it could sleep 5, it would present excellent value for a family. Communication was excellent.

Fantastic property , well accomadated , good location and perfect for visit to the local area . Pictures on site do not do property justice , more spacious and a great mix from old cottage to extension at rear which is seemless .

Lovely stay in Scotland

Overall the lodge is lovely, it is a lot bigger than expected with 3 bedrooms in total. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need in self catered accommodation. Location wise, it’s brilliant for exploring that side of the Trossachs - a short drive up to Callander. The property is dog friendly which was great for us - but note the extra fee for the dogs that is paid on arrival. This was £50 for 2 dogs. There is an enclosed garden but you have to go out the front (on the main road) to get to the garden entrance.

The property is not the same as what is photographed. Not sure whether it’s been redecorated but there is no bath and the decor is now very monochrome. The guest towels could also do with being updated - they were a bit manky.

Cosy lodge cottage with great garden

It was lovely and warm during some very chilly weather. There was a big secure garden at the back that our dogs loved.

To get to the garden involved going out the front door and a short walk to the back gate. As the lodge is just set back from a busy main road, this was slightly fraught each time.

Comfortable property

Comfortable property, all needs covered. Great garden for the dog.

£20 for dog to stay. I personally think Booking.com should make you aware of the chargeable amount for a dog when you pay the accommodation fees & you pay then, that way you have a choice whether you want to stay still. All accommodation we have stayed with previously, through Booking.com, there has been no additional charges for him when you arrive.

The interior of the property is immaculate and very well equipped as self catering accommodation. The rear garden is large private and peaceful with great unimpaired views of the surrounding countryside.

As the house is located just back from the main highway, traffic noise is apparent at certain times of the day. However, due to the thickness of the walls and double entry doors it’s apparent but no real issue.

Very solid place to stay. Parking was easy.

Even though “self catering”, basic breakfast materials were provided. The washer worked fine. The front room/kitchen were very presentable.

The bedrooms seems to be furnished somewhat as an afterthought. Please note that the shower is leaking onto the floor at the hinge corner.

Very good

Had a great wee break with my granddaughter and my wee Cairn Terrier. Was a bit further out of town than I thought it would be. Did walk into town on first day and got a taxi back. Rita was very helpful and responded quickly to a couple small issues. Would visit again.

Perfect getaway for couples or families

Perfect location to switch off. Spotlessly clean. Close to amenities. Rita was brilliant. Would definitely recommend it and will be back in the summer with the kids.

No bath like in the pictures. No TV in the room like in the pictures. Another couch would be good for more comfort in the livingroom.

This property is beautiful and caters for all your needs. Rita the owner has went above and beyond to make your stay as relaxed and comfortable as possible. The decor is lovely and the cottage is spotlessly clean inside. The beds are comfortable and plenty space to keep belongings. There was milk, fresh orange and cereal… nice little touches to make you feel welcome. It had been snowing really bad and we received a message asking if we arrived safely. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend . Can’t wait to go back!… Thank you Rita.

if the owner had a nicer attitude then our stay would have been more pleasurable but it wasn’t a good start to the break

owner was extremely grumpy with us as we hadn’t paid extra to have our dog stay, due to her rudeness I was ready for walking away and driving back home. Frying pan was full of old grease and glasses had to be cleaned before using them . Cobwebs on the ceiling lights and allot of road noise from the traffic close by . Also long walk into the village

We enjoyed a very relaxing holiday and highly recommend this beautiful lodge.

The Lodge House is a very comfortable, well maintained cottage with a large enclosed garden. It is well equipped with spacious rooms, modern furnishings, a large Smart TV, and fabulous walk-in shower. We were fortunate enough to enjoy good weather so spent time in the garden; its secure boundaries allowed our dog to wander freely without us being concerned. We explored the local area of Callander, which has a good variety of shops and walking routes.

To the front of the cottage is a very busy road so care had to be taken with our dog when exiting the house, keeping hold of him to the car or to the garden. The road didn't particularly bother us noise wise, even in the garden...we weren't disturbed with the road noise inside the house.

Rita was lovely, welcome pack was very generous, location was excellent especially with current covid restrictions in Scotland. Lodge was beautiful, very comfortable, lovely walk out the back in the woods for the dogs. Garden was big dogs loved it. Very close to main road but the noise never bothered us.
