Lake Side Nikko Hotel

Lakeside Nikko was a very quiet location with an excellent Japanese breakfast. We liked how close it is to the bus stop, and the staff was extremely helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.

The furniture could be updated.

Full disclosure here. We arrived in the middle of a typhoon. The weather conditions were awful and we were grateful for a roof over our heads. And then basically it was difficult to rate anything as good or bad, since we sort of huddled down to get through the storm and not much else. It would be fairer to read another person's review...when I imagine it could be a lovely beautiful location...but for us it did feel a bit like The Overlook from The Shining (slightly abandoned and faded grandeur, but thankfully with no supernatural goings on).

It seemed a bit unnecessary for the one member of staff to clean the onsen while my wife was using it...there were hardly any other guests in the whole place...so she might have waited two minutes. Maybe she was trying to be helpful? There is a food vending machine but it doesn't accept credit card payments and only accepts the old Japanese banknotes ...and given the weather we ended up going to bed hungry (tbf the details for the hotel does say food must be pre-ordered and the weather was truly terrible).

Good values. Next to the lake with spacious room and hot spring.

It was on lake side but won’t be able to see the lake at all. Wanted to walk along the lake however not good sidewalks some are muddy roads.

The staff was very friendly and the meals were delicious. The room is very spacious.

The tatami mats are very flat, they could use an upgrade. The slippers were difficult to walk in and it’s required to walk throughout most of the property with them on.
