The View

Excellent location. I did not need a car because it is within walking distance of Horton in Ribblesdale station. Hence I was able to fulfil a lifelong ambition and go up and down the historic Settle to Carlisle railway and enjoy the magnificent scenery from the train window. Also it is within easy walking distance of the famous Three Peaks walk. It took me less than three hours from the house to walk up to the top of Pen-y-ghent and back. In summer it must be lovely to sip a glass of wine in the front garden, and enjoy the spectacular view of Pen-y-ghent. I came in autumn and can confirm that the central heating worked great, and that I felt very cosy. My bed was very comfortable. The house was absolutely spotless. The furniture contributed to the cosy feel of the place. In terms of communication, the owner was easy to get hold of and very helpful.

Nothing bad - all good!

Everything that you could possibly need for a short break was provided; the kitchen had loads of crockery as well as plates/bowls/cups suitable for young children, plus there was a washing machine, dishwasher, clothes airer and washing line. All clean and very nicely decorated, towels and bedding provided. Good WiFi and TV options and it was warm and cosy when we turned up. The best part, however, was the view (as the name suggests). Would definitely return.

Minor point - there was very little storage space in the twin room - didn't really bother us as the kids were in there, and if we had stayed longer, we could have hung clothes in our wardrobe. Also, our bed was a little soft - but that's just personal preference.
