Hôtel France et Chateaubriand

Lovely location with an incredible view from our rooms.

Building itself is charming, if not slightly tired. Staff were not the most polite.

The hotel is very well positioned and it was lovely to have a residents’ lounge downstairs where we could spend time in the evening.

The shower in the room did not extend to full height. Also, there were shortages at breakfast when milk and muesli were not replenished.

The hotel and room was really nice. The hotel was beautifully decorated and steeped in history. Loads of bars and restaurants on the door step. Staff were lovely. The bar and restaurant for the hotel are really nice and the staff are super attentive. The hotel welcomed our doggo and she also came down to breakfast with us. The bed was massive and very comfy. Bathroom was well equipped with a good shower. Breakfast was good with loads of choice in an awesome room. Lots of car parking in the local area. We used the underground one which was awesome.

On arrival we weren't informed that there was no air conditioning. Outside temp was in the 30's. We went to our room which overlooked the front square, which was very busy. When we turned the air con on for the room it didn't operate and came up with a fault code. After raising the issue with reception we were told that there was no air con in the hotel at present. As we had no air conditioning we had to open the room windows which opened onto the noisy main square. The room was boiling and the noise from the square didn't subside until 2.30-ish in the morning. It wasn't a pleasant night.
