There was nothing we didnt like
3.0 / 10.0
Location is great and they have some of the only intra-mural parking in the city (half a dozen spots which they share with their sister hotel). The staff are also very friendly and engaged. We went just after new year and the area and hotel were dead quiet.
The room we had (422 I believe) was dated, shoddy and badly cleaned. Beyond the fact there were carelessly missed coffee stains on the walls nowhere near the coffee maker, the mould in the bathroom, and that the shower immediately clogged and required the poor fellow at the front desk to dive in to fix (as he seemed to be the only member of staff on site), the room itself was just thoughtlessly and carelessly decorated. Most things were foxed and worn, and anything 'new' gave the impression that the decorator had simply rush-ordered the top hit on an amazon search, regardless of style or lack of quality, after hitting "sort by price; low-to-high". Not at all worth the price, or the label of "deluxe".

The room had an amazing view, very spacious and perfect for a family of four. We loved the restaurant/bar downstairs as well. Would love to return!
Just notification of where to park before arriving.

Staff were very pleasant, courteous and efficient. The hotel is well-run and comfortable. The room was very clean, spacious, airy and the bed excellent. The toilet had a superb shower. The location, just inside the ramparts of the old town (Intramuros) of St-Malo, was absolutely fantastic and deserves a five star review all of its own. We booked a space in the nearby underground car park with the hotel and this worked out extremely well. St Malo itself is magical and well worth a visit. The food in the many local eateries is a gourmand's delight. We had a great time and we recommend the hotel and the town without reservation. (See what I did there!) Téir ann le fonn.
The room could do with a small fridge. Why hotels supply DOUBLE rooms with only a SINGLE chair defies logic, but such also was the case here. Just niggles really but these would have been the glaçage on the gateau, as it were.

The room was really cute with an amazing view of the lively restaurants below. The breakfast was really good and well stocked, very glad we paid for that add-on. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly which is always a positive when you're in a country where you barely speak the language.
The bathtub could have been a little bit bigger or have a shower going into it making it easier to clean yourself.

Breakfast was outstanding but we had to contend with 2 coach trips at the same time
One of the senior waitresses wasn’t very helpful when we explained we wanted to eat in the dining room in the evening when we explained we were staying there she informed us that didn’t make a difference and that we had to book in advance

Location of the hotel was excellent, very pleasant public areas
The room only had a hand held shower over the bath, could not be fixed at a standing height and there was no shower curtain. I may have misunderstood the room description when booking but I would never normally book a room which did not have a proper shower. Also the room was not ready when we tried to check in at 3.30pm.

When booking I specifically asked if there was parking at the hotel as I am disabled and unable to walk far. Was assured that they had parking. However it turns out that the hotel uses the municipal parking, which is situated outside of the walled town. It offers no assistance with carrying your baggage and is only accessible on foot over cobbled walkway!!
The room was small, no Aircon and the "en suite" toilet was in a tiny cupboard with a glass sliding door.

It was beautiful and historical, with great views all the way round. The interior design was done very well.

The decor was a little worn, but all worked well.

The location was good and the sea view from our windows was superb. The staff at the reception and in the restaurant understood the meaning of the word hospitality. They were helpful and accommodating. We couldn’t have separate beds which made sleep less comfortable for us. The hot water station needs attention by housekeeping. The kettle had water full of calcium deposits and had to be cleaned several times before we could use it. The coffee packets were missing the next day, but reception very kindly offered coffee from the breakfast machine as we were checking out. We had a lovely stay and will recommend friends and family, but not during peak season. Thank you.

Location, comfort and helpful staff
Not a big issue but I prefer a walk in shower.
A fan in the bedroom would be nice during the summer.

The location and view from our room was exceptional.
The room needed to be refurbished and the shower was hand held in a bath and not mounted.

Central location
We had booked a superior room. The bathroom/shower left a lot to be desired. Shower consisted of hose type in the bath that required you to sit in the bath to shower. No shower curtain. We asked to be moved and were given a smaller room with walk in shower that was really tight to move in. Appreciate it is a beautiful old building but advertising superior rooms that have less than adequate bathroom facilities is a bit of a stretch. No discount was given for smaller room!

The location was fantastic, in the heart of the old walled city. Our window had a view of the ramparts and the ocean, where we could see the ever-changing extreme tides and the fortress on the nearby island. Room was comfortable and adequate size. Staff were cheerful and helpful. Breakfast was good, and all the public spaces in this historic hotel were stunning and memorable.
Virtually everything was very good.

We loved this hotel with its stylish rooms and sea views. It was 3 mins to the beach for me and my dog. The entrance is spacious and staff are very welcoming. The lift to our floor was generous and smooth.
We decided to treat ourselves to a meal in the rooftop restaurant. We had the Discovery menu and matching wines: truly awesome 👌
The following morning, breakfast was excellent, lots of choices to suit all tastes.
It was then only 5mins to the ferry port to return home to England.
I hadn't understood that our disabled parking would be in the very courtyard of the hotel. Negotiating the narrow one way streets with many weekend road closures and lots of pedestrians was tricky. A specific map indicating where to go would have been more helpful than Google maps.

Location of hotel was brilliant right in the heart of old town St-Malo. Hotel was nice, but a bit tired looking, could do with a refurbishment in some areas.
Great location

Room was above a courtyard which received a delivery early in the morning which was quite nosiy. The staff were very helpfull and breakfast was very good.
We booked an hotel with parking, St Marlo has very small streets and it would have been usful, for more information in relation on where to park. Parking was in a public carpark outside of the city walls.

Great location and beautiful old hotel
Staff were very helpful and pleasant
Room was very quiet with nice peekaboo view to the sea and the fort
Would recommend staying here as it allowed easy access to buses to visit offsite towns
Walking the wall and enjoying the sea views was awesome
Nothing to note

Good position for visiting Saint Malo.
This historic hotel is in a terrible state. It is a sad ghost of the building it once was. A total refurb is badly needed, from the reception area (you have to go through a grotty conservatory first) to the breakfast dining room layout, all the way to the outdated bedrooms and bathrooms. Even our pillows were lumpy and old. The beds were hard and saggy, the duvets thin. There was mould around the shower door and one of the ancient bathroom towels even had a hole in it. The staff were not very helpful and the brasserie poorly organised. Very expensive for what you get. All in all, this place needs a serious overhaul at all levels.

The hotel has an excellent location. The staff at reception were very welcoming. Our room was very comfortable and well cleaned.
In terms of breakfast, we would suggest more staff be available to assist patrons.
