Exceeded our expectations - the staff especially, very helpful

Welcoming and helpful staff, comfortable, restaurant/sauna/fitness room/ski & boot room, location close to shuttle buses to all lifts (v close to Barzettes).

Shuttle buses don’t run later in the evenings (after dinner - be sure to check schedule). But hotel was warm and comfortable and walking distance to Montana.

Hotel of the Forest is a great spot to stay.

This is a classic mountain lodge hotel with very Swiss-French accents. We took advantage of the breakfast each morning and enjoyed our view into Valais. Our room had a nice covered balcony. The walk to the bus stop is about 200m uphill but could be much worse. They have an amazing sauna room so definitely check that out for a small fee - worth it. The staff were incredible and very accommodating throughout our entire week there. The restaurant is surprisingly good and any lack in options were made up by the excellent wait staff and quality of food.

Signage is poor to direct you to the hotel from the bus stop, go down the hill, not up!

I must say, the room and the interior of the hotel were exceptionally clean. Everything felt fresh, well-maintained, and clearly looked after with care — a real standout during our stay.

We didn’t enjoy the breakfast — the selection was very limited and underwhelming. It was also surprising to see just one employee handling everything, from reception duties to serving food, which made the service feel stretched. The hotel itself is a bit outdated in terms of decor and facilities, but I have to say it was extremely clean throughout. I also really liked the room — comfortable and well-kept.

The value of a view

The room was very clean and quiet. The location is a 20-minute walk to the town of Montana, and rooms facing the mountains offer a great view. Not many places are open at this time of year, so it is a nice option. It is comfortable.

When I arrived, I was given a room with four beds. I was travelling alone. The photo of the room I had booked showed a single large bed. I asked to be changed and was, but the room with a 'view', even though it was north-facing, looked out onto a staircase and a small, empty yard. It would be best not to offer this room with a view.

I stayed at Hotel Chalet Royal on the night of May 24th and had one of the most uncomfortable hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Upon arrival, we were told there would be a wedding party that evening — something that was never mentioned during the booking process. The music was extremely loud, with the DJ clearly audible from my room (Room 139), and it continued well past 1:30 AM. I am pregnant, and the lack of sleep due to the constant noise caused me a lot of stress and fatigue. I tried calling reception multiple times, but no one answered. If I had been informed in advance, I would have booked a different hotel. This stay was not restful, not respectful of guests’ needs, and definitely not acceptable for a place that claims to offer comfort. I do not recommend this hotel if you’re looking for peace, rest, or proper communication.

Not very modern

Staff was very friendly and helped us find a nice place to have dinner because the restaurant of the hotel was closed.

The hotel is more outdated than it looks in the pictures. Room was not very pretty, mattresses not very comfortable, toilet looked old. Breakfast was basic, only the bread was really good. View is good but even though we went off season and the hotel seemed deserted, we were given a room without view.

The balcony and views, breakfast, location, and all the staff were excellent.

Needs updating, especially bathroom. Tub/shower combo was weird and difficult to shower in. Too large for the bathroom.

Very good

The view from my room was incredible ! The team there seemed friendly and accommodating, there was a large group of guests that needed to leave early so they moved up their breakfast times. The breakfast was very nice and fresh

I would of loved to have the option of almond milk or something for lactose intolerant people, but then again, I never expressed this need to them. The decoration of the room is also not incredible but it is clean and you are more focused on the view or sleeping anyway.

Lovely night at the Hôtel de la Foret

We really appreciated the kindness of the staff. We had an unforeseen problem and we got to the hotel way after the check in had closed, but we found our keys at the entrance in an envelope. Lovely breakfast.

Nice hotel close to the ski lift

The hotel location is very close to the ski lift (you can take a bus (2 stops) or walk (10 min) Bed is comfortable and the room was clean and have a nice balcony with mountain views. The staff was friendly and welcoming.

Rooms are rather small. Double bed is made of two matrasses instead of a single bog one, so there's a small gap between them. Breakfast is rather simple.
