AinB Las Ramblas-Guardia Apartments

Wonderful location, calm and silent during the night, but very close to a lot of nice bars and the city centre.

The whole apartment was dirty, especially the floors. Mold in the shower and bathroom. They only provided 3 shower gels for 5 people. The utensils and glasses were also dirty.

Everything is amazing! The apartment is spacious and clean and amazing value for money. The location is amazing

The induction wasn’t easy to operate. We weren’t able to use it so please give instructions to the guests.

The property was just off Las Ramblas in the El Raval area, but not too far in to worry about the reputation. I visited for football, my team, Newcastle United, were playing Barcelona in the Champions League. With 3000 tickets and 10,000 fans traveling I wasn't afforded the opportunity to do as much research as I could, this place was advertised elsewhere as well as their own website, so I jumped on this property when it became available. Then shock horrors, I was able to head over to Google and do a little more research, unfortunately I had paid in full to lower the price, property prices were rising quicker than fuel during the Iran conflict, so there's no way I could afford another property so I had no choice but to go with this one. Some of the reviews were horrendous Bed bugs. Rude staff Place was unclean Drug addicts outside the property. Burglaries. Front doors are not lockable and anyone can walk in. Not given access codes to the building and struggling to get inside. I was tempted to bring a bullet proof vest. Then I arrived.... On arrival I arrived a little early so I got to the property around 3 hours earlier than check in. I sent a quick message to the host and they literally replied within minutes, they altered the time sensitive key codes so we could check in early. So far so good. Rude staff? Not so far. We open the front door, it's controlled via an app they give you access to, you need to be quick it's one of those electromagnetic locks that lock if you don't open in time. But after a couple of attempts it was easy to use. Front door not lockable? Not sure about that! It won't budge if the electromagnetic lock doesn't engage. It's a heavy wrought iron door. You access the property via an app you download onto your phone, you swipe on your phone and it engages the lock. If you're not Infront of the door or not quick enough it locks Secure? Absolutely.

Although the place was enjoyable one of the bedrooms overlooked the lift and my guest did say they could hear it moving during the night and you could hear people walking up the stairs. You could, at times, hear people moving furniture upstairs, but it's an old building, there isn't much you can do. It not a purpose built holiday rental, it's a domestic property converted into apartments. Our apartment was at the back of the building, so overlooked the back of other buildings, laundry being hung from balconies, flags and the existence of life. It wasn't a postcard picture but it was enjoyable to be part of. I love seeing how other people live, seeing how different people from other countries live their lives is something you don't get the opportunity to do when you're on a short break. So although the rear of the building may not have been picture perfect, it was an amazing opportunity to be given an insight at how other people live their lives. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it certainly didn't put me off. When I was doing my online property hunting, I was specifically looking for one with a Terrace or a communal garden and this one fit the bill. Having checked booking.com and Egoda there were images of a rooftop terrace so I was looking forward to using it. But unfortunately access was restricted. It was a little disappointing, as this was the focal point I was looking for. But I can understand why this may have been restricted, having 10,000 drunken football fans roaming around the area, an unsupervised rooftop terrace may not have been the best idea. So for health and safety purposes I can forgive them for this one.
