Great location and comfy but could be cleaner

Fantastic location for a week in the Lakes with lots to do in and around Ambleside. Nice welcome pack including a pint of milk.

Orthopaedic mattress in the main bedroom was far too hard for us and no mattress cover. Cleanliness was slightly lacking e.g dust, cobwebs, blocked drain in bath. Venetian blinds dusty with broken pull cords. Pillow protectors don't get washed with 'Please leave on' written on them!

Ambleside is a great place to base a walking holiday from, and Loughrigg enhances that.

Great location, clean and well appointed.

It was obviously completed to a high spec a while ago. It’s starting to get a little frayed around the edges in some areas. It was also advertised in the wrong location, which was a little annoying hunting for it when we first arrived. Soon resolved though and it’s actually in a better location I think! Happy days!

Disappointing

There was no breakfast other than what we provided, the location of the house was great, easy access to parking lot and easy walking to most of the town.

Lots could have been better. The house was NOT as advertised. Furniture and fixtures very worn and dirty throughout. Carpeting coming away from the walls and thresholds, trim strip pulling up between parquet and tile in the kitchen (trip hazards) Inadequately supplied with basic needs: sugar, pepper, tea, coffee, paper towels, sufficient toilet paper, etc. Cookware had to be cleaned before use. Toiletries in ONE bathroom, but not the other. Toilet brushes were dirty. No waste cans on second or third floors. Patio/Garden could not be used at all due to growth and rusty furniture. Lots of cobwebs and spiders throughout.

Excellent location. Golden Rule pub just across the road. Shops all close. Great walking.

Broken pan lid and sieve. Radio/ music system in the kitchen/ dining room would be good.

The house itself was excellent, beautifully decorated throughout and very well equipped.

Information on the use of the cooker, particularly the hob should be provided as we couldn't figure this out and it prevented us cooking. also information on using the television although I think something is probably wrong with it and it needs checking. The 'Patio' which was in a very scruffy back yard with the table and chairs being covered in rust. No one would want to sit out there.

Excellent Stay

It's a beautiful cottage. We truly enjoyed ourselves. The location was perfect. We were not far off from the shops and local walks were good. We had a comfortable 12 days staying at this cottage. We would highly recommend it to others too. Ambleside being central also helped with the distance of visiting places. The cottage facilities were good and clean.Thank you also for the welcoming package - tea/coffee and biscuits/cookies. We felt very welcomed.

It would have helped if there were instructions as to how to operate the cooker and the TV. We eventually figured out how to use the cooker. We stayed nearly for two weeks so it would have been great if another set of towels be provided. Despite the rental of the property being slightly high, the overall stay was superb which made a great difference.

Very accommodating to our needs.

We have stayed in lots of different accommodation in Ambleside, the location of Loughrigg View was excellent and the house was all we needed with free wifi and a welcome pack. The service that stood out from all other properties was the helpfulness and friendliness of Sharon the maintenance and service manager. Her attitude was exceptional so I would definitely book this property again.

There was only one front door key between 5 of us.

great location just behind the Main Street of Ambleside but quite with no noises from traffic etc. property was warm and clean with all the convenience’s you would want. the log burner was a big plus lovely to have that going after a day on the fells.

Beautifully maintained and equipped cottage. Very comfortable. The lack of TV was frustrating.

Everything except the two points below.

It was not easy to unload at the location. There was no remote for ordinary TV, only SKY and NETFLIX, no instructions and apparently no terrestrial channels - result no TV all week.

Substantial, well converted house with good kitchen, comfortable, nice views. Good position near centre but quiet.

If soft furnishings, some of towels, bedding refreshed would give a higher score. No parking place - stated in description but permit in car park very close by worked really well so no issue.

the main bed - for us it was too hard and uncomfortable, took until the fourth night to sleep through - but that’s just our tastes, other people may like a hard bed!

Super little cottage right in the heart of Ambleside - comfortable with everything you need.

The house is spotlessly clean and has everything you could need during your stay. The welcome basket was a lovely touch and milk in the fridge for a cuppa on arrival was really very much appreciated.

The staircase is steep/ narrow and tricky to manage with heavy bags - just will be something to consider, for some, when booking. one of the rooms is very small but is also all rooms are very comfortable.

All of the rooms were lovely and there is a wood burner in the lounge so it is really warm and comfortable after a day of walking. It is right in the town so you can walk to shops, pubs and cinema easily.

An excellent property let down by the letting agents

Excellent location, very comfortable & well furnished, well equipped and parking arrangements worked well.

Not much but the cooker hood/extractor didn’t work (we cooked on 3 nights) and some window blind cords were broken. However, a big problem was contact with the letting agents and the emergency contact details provided in the property. There are some issues, including serious safety issues, that need to be taken up with the owner and I specifically request they contact me urgently. They should text me on the number Booking.com holds for me.
