Lisa and her team were so accommodating to our requests. The room was so nice and clean with amazing views of the Castle and Mam Tor! We had the best time - can’t wait to come again!

Excellent location. Beautiful area. Lots of walks nearby. Castleton has lots of pubs to choose from, all within few minutes walk from the property. Room was perfect for us, beds super comfortable. Owners and staff very friendly. Would definitely return and recommend.

The room was great. Large bed. Clean and tidy. Close to village centre.

No breakfast included.(our fault for not checking). Price was high to there was no breakfast provided.

A basic accommodation, but rooms clean and comfortable. We could heat the room, which was essential with the storm and rain we had. It was well situated in the main street, with many pubs and restaurants near by. There was no breakfast, but easy to walk over to dining places. (We do not recommend Ye Olde Cheeshire Cheese Inn, it looks pretty from the outside, but service and food was dreadful - please walk on to the Peak Hotel pub, The Rose cottage or the 1530 Restaurant). The staff at Swiss Guest House was very friendly, and gave us good advise. We even got to keep the room till 4pm for a small extra charge, as we were taking the bus late in the afternoon.

The location is excellent, just a short walk to the downtown area. The room was clean and comfortable, although it was on the 3rd floor:)

We had to go across the road to another inn for breakfast; not a big issue (the breakfast was fine), but a little odd. Lack of staffing meant that there was often no one around as we came and went. Again, not a big problem, but it felt strange.

A bit gutted to learn they won’t be serving breakfast in the future. It was delicious and me of the reasons we returned year after year. Apart from this the whole stay was excellent.

The bed was comfortable. We asked for a room with a view which we got.

This is a difficult review to write as our stay bore no resemblance to the reviews. We hope for the owners that this was just a blip. We understand that staffing can be difficult at times but what we paid for and the experience we got were polar opposites. Prior communication about bar and kitchen being closed would have managed our expectations and made us more understanding. 1. Before arrival we messaged the property to ask if we could have food that evening. Message was not answered. 2.On arrival we were told that breakfast would be provided by the pub over the road. It was only available from 8.30am…my husband was on a course starting at 9.15am a 15 minute car trip away. 3. We were also told the bar would be closed whilst we were there. 4. With the bar closed, the “Main Entrance” to the property was a very scruffy door which looked like an entrance to a dodgy HMO! 5. We were in room 9 as we had asked for a view which was great BUT the room had a very low ceiling with a very large exposed beam. We both knocked our heads numerous times so asked to change rooms. No other rooms were made up so we stuck with it. We did speak to the owner about this but felt awkward persisting as he mentioned an impending hospital appointment. 6. We felt like “latch key kids” who had been abandoned. Our business was obviously not valued.

Excellent location in the town, nice bar downstairs, very comftable well equipped room and a fantastic brakefast with everything you could want.

Breakfast was excellent ! The room was spacious and clean, along with the modern en-suite.

Trying to make telephone contact with the owner prior to the visit to ask a question about parking facilities. I eventually got an answer but via e-mail. The telephone number given had no message facility and never answered even after some 6 attempts at different times.

The staff were all very nice, friendly, efficient and accommodating. Discount rate at the bar. The breakfast was excellent, cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit and toast as well as a full cooked breakfast with a variety of choices of sausages,, eggs, mushrooms & tomatoes as well as bacon, black pudding and fried bread.

The location is right on the edge of town, literally less than a minute from the first of Castleton’s many traditional pubs. By contrast Swiss House has a more contemporary bar vibe, enhancing the variety of Castleton’s attractions - it’s a definite asset to the town

Views from room were excellent. Had everything we needed. Very nice breakfast.

They said breakfast was at 8.30am but it was later both of the days we were there and and there was a queue of guests waiting in the corridor til they opened the door. They played Heart Dance radio station at breakfast and it not wasn't relaxing listening to a mixture of crappy old dance music and adverts (far from it). The toilet brush was gross.

Great spot, loved the pub, rooms were clean and comfortable and just what you needed. Staff were fab and the breakfast is the best hotel breakfast I’ve had! Great choice of fresh fruit and yoghurt to cooked breakfast

The shower was a little small but the water was good

Great location. Large spacious room. Bonus of a fan in the room on a very warm weekend and 10% discount at the bar for residents. Staff were brilliant.

I didn't like an owner because I couldn't get contact with him, and with other reception staff over a month. I have called by phone many times, and I have sent two emails, but nobody answered to resolve my problems. I have called to Booking.com and they tried to call to owner by phone but unsuccesful. Booking.com staff member has sent an email to owner and after that I have got an email from owner.

Excellent breakfast. Wasn't enough in Castleton for us. But nice quiet location for maybe someone older.

Could of done with tv in lounge. But not a deal breaker.

Nothing not to like

The staff were friendly, extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. The breakfast is fantastic, very copious and made with quality ingredients. The room was very good with a comfortable bed and tea, coffee and biscuits provided. The bathroom was compact but clean and had a good, hot shower. It was great to be able to park on the property too as parking is not easy in Castleton. The establishment is just a few hundred yards from the town centre and you can do Mam For, visit the castle, and nearby caverns without taking your vehicle. The tap room on site is lively and fun. We had no problems with noise.

We have absolutely nothing to complain about.

Fantastic location in Castleton, close to all the amenities. Nice little bar serving a great selection of craft type lager and ale. Great view from the room (number 9) we were able to have a cup of tea in the morning and just look at the hills.
