St Elmo House

Excellent location.

Location was good and was very quiet. Shower was good. Bed was comfortable

no WiFi in room and hence no SmartTV either. Owner eventually admitted that there are ongoing issues with the broadband supplier despite initially appearing to be proactive in fixing the issue. Heating was timed to come on at 5pm which wasn't good as temperatures were sub zero during our stay. Again owner tried to fob us off by saying that it should have come on at 3pm but no effort was made to change the timing. There is no heating in the bathroom. Couple of minor issues with the cleaning prior to arrival such as someone else's sock on the bedroom floor and a bedside water bottle being left empty with the top off. I also received a number of bites overnight which suggests that the bed isn't hygienic. The flat is quite small and basic. I would suggest that it is suitable for a single person for a short stay who is ok with only having basic facilities, it is quite cramped for more than one person. Owner offered compensation at the time because of issues experienced and we were expecting a refund of some amount but that offer was then made as a discount for our next stay, as if we would ever stay there again

Excellent central, quiet location to explore Dartmouth.

Overnight parking is difficult - this is not a criticusm of the apartment it is just a fact of life in Dartmouth. If you are coming by car then be prepared to park some distance away from the apartment especially if you plan to park overnight.

Immaculate, great location, round the corner from all shops/restaurants and the seafront. Thoughts of thoughtful touches. Very comfortable bed!

Stayed in room 3. Quite easy to find and parked on the nearby side street - 2 minute walk. Parking is free for 2 hours 9am-6pm so arriving at 5:30pm and leaving for work at 10am the following day was great. Darmouth front, which is beautiful, is a 5 minute walk away. The room is compact but modern and clean. I got a takeaway Indian meal from the Spice Merchant which was really nice and they gave me a disposable plate and cutlery.

The hallway outside the room, which is a very short distance from room 3 door, has an external door. This door is left unlocked constantly and as a lone, female traveller I felt somewhat unsafe. The door lock on room 3 is an oldish Yale lock which didn't look that secure so having no lock on the external door was a bit unnerving. I text, then called the number given should I have any complaints (to see if there was a key to the external door anywhere) but there was no response during my time there. One other minor complaint, currently there are 2 wall lights however a bedside lamp would be nice.
