1. Best location. I cannot stress this enough.
2. Owner is the Mayor of Portovenere. He is so connected and owns a shop almost next door. I think he owns the building. Whatever drawbacks there might be, Giovanni makes up for it with all the connections he has. If you say his name, the doors open for you.
3. Floors are clean and smell disinfected.
4. Bed is firm and it looked new-ish. Sheets on the bed are clean and the pillows are firm.
5. Towels are rough, but they are clean and smell clean.
6. Shower pressure is excellent. Toilets are modern and spotless.
7. You step outside and you are in the center of absolutely everything. And because you are a guest of Giovanni, everyone is nice to you. Giovanni introduced us to everyone.
8. Less noisy than I thought it would be.
9. No winding stairs or narrow alleys. We were on the water and walked in and out without a single step.
10. We knew what we were getting - a basic room that was hopefully clean. What we didn't realize was that we lucked out with the owner's connections and the amazing location.
1. Wifi was spotty and gave us 1 bar consistently.
2. Who cares?....the location makes up for everything and Giovanni is Mr. Portovenere. He's the most famous man in town. You have to get to know him. He sat with us for a prosecco, which I recommend because then, the entire town (all the restaurants, bars, shops, etc.) all know that you are with him.

Location was great, right in the heart of the town and amoungst restaurants. The air conditioner worked well.
Bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. Pillows were also old and lumpy. Fridge didn’t work, and was noisy, had to unplug it. No soap holder in the shower. Shower
rose holder was broken and the shower had to be hand held. No hooks for the towels anywhere. Very loud music til midnight in the club under the apartment, only
Friday night. Very minor upgrades. Loads of potential. Needs some TLC.
