Hotel Kitanoya

This was the nicest hotel room I've ever rented. One of 2 units in the annex buiding near the water. An architectural achievement. Impressive electrical and plumbing technology, luxurious bathing, giant windows focused on water views, spacious, solid doors, delightful beds, fully functional kitchen, 5 minute walk to town. Off season, with gorgeous weather.

We had the room with a private open-air bath and it was amazing.

A bit of a walk from the station and the shopping/food area, about 10 minutes.

Public baths were great, room was very nice.

Food was very old school

The staff at this hotel were so lovely and I really wanted to give the hotel a better review because of them. We only stayed here overnight and our family stayed in a Japanese style room with outdoor bath. It was cute inside but for the price we paid, other traditional ryokans we have stayed at in Japan were much better in terms of comfort. The walls are super thin here and we were up for half of the night listening to people in other rooms, futons weren’t comfortable either. Spa was s nice addition but for the price paid, we just didn’t see the value. We drove to Amanohashidate town, the hotel really wasn’t close to anything either. Staff were wonderful and the amenities were great, very generous.
