We had a nice stay: staff were friendly and professional; the food (dinner and breakfast) was truly excellent. In general we were happy with our choice, but found the bed rather uncomfortable.

Lovely hotel but don’t go to dinner hungry

Went to dinner at 6pm as a big group. We had booked in so it wasn’t a shock. When we arrived missing one seat and placement. Food came and I ordered a main salad for a starter. People ordered drinks and we were waiting 30 minutes plus for the drinks. Orders ice cream for the kids only 4 out of the 11 were children. So order was taken and it came wrong twice. Took us almost 3 hours to eat as staff just forgot to check on us in between courses

Nice clean place, a bit pricey and very warm.

Clean room, windows were operational. Reasonable parking and onsite restaurant. Breakfast was excellent.

Room was hot. Radiator was on a timer, needed front desk to lower heat. Had to open window. Just very hot… and I am from Florida. Management allowed noisy party in adjacent room until 11pm.

Disappointment

I was happy to check out finally.

Do not answer to requests about booking. Staff in restaurant is untrained, unfriendly and have amnesia about orders. While they did not have any reservations for first dinner, only us, we were seated to central narrow table in the walkway. In the first night a delivery truck produced noise to wake us up, also false fire alarm. I did not find any water or like in our superior room, not even any glasses. On the second evening, restaurant accepted reservation while allegedly they ran out of tables.... then lots of empty tables were during our dinner. Staff forgot drinks and cutlery, even serve a table where guests arrived after us. Seating waitress was very unfriendly, behaving like she did favour for us, not greeting or saying good bye. Same manner was seen in the second morning of the seating waiter. That was our second stay, but never again! Do not recommend at all.

The food and facilities where excellent. The bedrooms where spotless and the entire hotel was spotless. The staff where very friendly. Location of hotel is perfect as it is near major routes and close to the city.

The first morning for breakfast one of the staff members was chewing gum which in my eyes in front of guests is a thing that you should not see while enjoying your food.

The Viking Hotel was an excellent choice and I highly recommend it to anyone!

The included breakfast was excellent and the dining area was very nice. We had drinks in the bar area the night we arrived and the young man behind the bar was friendly and helpful. It all made for a great stay!

The only thing I can think of is having ice more available. I know it’s more of an American thing, but we enjoy a lot of ice in our drinks. Everything else was great!

It was like being in a hot oven, with only a tiny window that opened a crack, no fan (got a small one for the three of us, after complaining) and no air conditioning. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable. At E200 a night, I’d have expected slightly better conditions to sleep.

Fab room and bathroom. Staff were excellent. Breakfast was great and the entire hotel was clean and well appointed.

Water pressure in the shower was a bit weak. Juice at breakfast was not great. No air conditioning in room so it was rather warm. EV chargers in the car park would be a good addition. Overall however, these are all quite minor things really and we enjoyed our stay.

A good stay, shame about the quality of the breakfast

Great Parking, a nice newly renovated room. Excellent staff. Good WiFi. Great pillows and bedding with a super comfy bed.

The breakfast, seemed of poor quality compared to all the other breakfasts we ate whilst in Ireland travelling around for the last 2 weeks. As a hotel you could do better. Watery porridge, made up orange juice, fruit which was drying out and had been prepared hours before being served (two types of melon, and pineapple). A real shame.

It is a really lovely hotel in a quiet area,easy to find also good location to access Waterford city. Great variety on the restaurant menu and the breakfast was really well laid out also with a great variety to suit everyone's tastes.

Lovely breakfast!

It was SO hot and LOUD all night long with outside banging. No sleep for us. No air conditioning so don't go if you need to sleep with the window open. It is a very noisy hotel. I was also slightly disappointed, I called down explaining that our shower soap dispenser was not working. Front desk said they would address it and never did.

Nice hotel within short drive to Waterford city center.

Restaurant on site was a big plus. Dinner was very good with many choices to choose from. Room had plenty of space. Free parking on site was plentiful.

To enjoy downtown Waterford you had to drive into the city center which was about 5 km from hotel (15 min drive).

Rooms were so stuffy with no air had to go out and buy a fan. Went out for a gig and on returning to hotel at 11pm were planning to go to bar for a drink and there were kids all over foyer and in the bar running around. The area is in between car dealers

Weekend in Waterford

Convenient location on the edge of Waterford city.

On the night we stayed an undesirable element were drinking in the bar/ restaurant. They became very loud and annoying to hotel guests We left the bar/restaurant area due to the behaviour of these people. Staff continued to serve them drink despite the fact that they were very drunk. We overheard a junior member of bar staff ask his manager should he keep serving them, and he was told " Go back in their and do your job". If the hotel continues to allow this behaviour in bar/restaurant it will loose business. Its also worth nothing that these people weren't paying guests staying in the hotel.
