We have rented homes before, and to me this was our most luxurious villa rental, down to very sophisticated design picks both inside and out. The kitchen also had every possible tool or appliance you may want/need if you choose to either cook or have simple appetizers/meals/drinks at the property. We chose to eat all meals outside of breakfast at restaurants, but our teenagers stayed back one day and were quite happy with a short work into the nearby town and then simple lunch and relaxing by the pool. It was also very easy to access the main highway (E65) to do day trips to nearby locations (we had a rental car). We also enjoyed the restaurants and boat tour recommendations from the hosts Miltos/Dafni.
The extra space and bedrooms is very useful if you are traveling with multiple couples, or if you have teenagers where it helps that they have their own rooms! Did I mention they also had a washer and wonderful air conditioner units in every bedroom? They also had TV in each room, although I only used briefly one day since there is so much to see/do. I know sometimes though it likely would have been a good idea to have "rest day" and this villa would have been perfect to simply enjoy on it's own.
Nearby we highly recommend the following: beaches, boat trip (we splurged on private boat tour), Manousakis Winery, Botanical Park & Garden (amazing - recommend getting there early and staying for lunch), Chania, and Rethimno.
The only minor thing was the table in the kitchen is large (to accommodate up to 8 inside) - but makes moving around in the kitchen a bit more tight. That being said having the table in the kitchen allowed for a spacious living room sofa, chaise, and desk area - and would be necessary in winter months or if the weather is not nice and if you have a large group since we only had 4 total!
