Maria is a great host, she is very kind and affectionate. Some amenities are in the bathroom or nearby. She's very cute and it feels like sleeping with your grandmother. Great location.

In our case, we were bitten by bed bugs. It's so hot that we couldn't sleep, there's no air conditioning and no fan. We were mainly in the living room of the bedroom than in bed. Sharing an apartment with several guests is not for everyone, but when they continue to use the bathroom at 12 or take a bath

When booking this hotel, keep in mind that you will be staying in the same house as Maria (the owner). Maria is a wonderful woman, and it was very nice to meet her. She told us about herself, gave us a discount tip for the boat tour, and recommended a great brasserie that we ended up visiting. It was a great experience to see a Belgian house from the inside, and the location was very convenient — the city center is very close, and the park and the train station are nearby.

We didn’t like that we had to share the bathroom with other guests (three rooms and only one toilet and one bathroom). There is no shower, only a bathtub, so you have to sit in the tub and hold the shower head in your hand, which is very inconvenient. There was also no hot water on the first day (it was available at first, then it ran out and there wasn’t enough for everyone). There is probably a boiler in the house, but I’m not sure exactly why the hot water ran out — we just really wanted to shower after a long day in Brussels. Maria also asks guests to follow many house rules, so you are constantly thinking about them and can’t fully relax: opening the window after taking a shower, wiping everything after using the bathroom, etc. The cleanliness was also not perfect by my standards. Maria prepared the breakfast herself, but the omelet had pieces of eggshell in it. Maria said that juice at breakfast costs €1.5, but after check-out she said it was €4.5. In the end, for three days the two of us paid €27 for juice, and together with the tourist tax it came to €56. We would have liked to know about these costs in advance — for us it was a surprise.

Very friendly owner. So helpful and kind. I only stayed one night (for a few hours), but was welcomed early with a nice cup of coffee.

the stairs to the bed on the mezzanine were steep and tricky to get up/down. being charged an extra 5 euro just to store my cycle in the garage seemed a bit much. the room was a study plus a mezzanine with little space to store clothes etc.
