OK if nothing else is available, but not our first choice
Very close to the border, if you're coming from the North it is literally the first village on the Greek side where you can sleep before you head further South the next morning. Walking distance from the two village pubs/restaurants. Affordable.
We used this hotel for what 99% of people visiting it use - a quick overnight stay as soon as you cross the border with Bulgaria (which is no longer a real border since Bulgaria joined the Schengen treaty). We've stayed a few times at another place in Agkistro, which was a lot nicer. Biggest issues here: AC' didn't work consistently. Like, it would start and then stop. No, it wasn't the key not inserted or us opening doors or windows. We travel Europe extensively and we've known about these things way before the trend made it to the States. The weather when we stayed was super hot and humid and the room was very hard to sleep in. The shower is SMALLLLL. Like, literally 1"x1", and it's only "enclosed" by shower curtains. The shower head didn't have a mount, so you had to hold it while showering... Things like these. Not catastrophic, but super annoying. But since everybody only stays for one night there, the majority of people don't bother to complain and the owners get away with it. It wouldn't cost that much to update/fix things, get your ducks in a row and spend a few euros on upgrades.

    Great place for a stopover
A pretty little village in a very nice location, with some great views. Very close to a couple of unexpectedly nice tavernas and a great coffee and pastry shop for a morning kick. As for the rooms themselves, they are positively huge (quadruple room in our case), air-conditioned and with big balconies - really not much more you could ask for.
Nitpicking here, but there were a few lights in the room that didn't work and there are no coffee or tea-making facilities on the premises (there is a great coffee shop in walking distance though).

    Good value for the money.
The room was very clean, with comfy beds, satellite TV, a fridge and AC. There is also a very nice balcony. Some 10 km awa from the Bulgarian border. Perfect for a short stop on our way to Athens. The host is very helpful and quickly answers messages on Booking.com. Good value for the money!
    Everything was perfect!

A perfect option to sleep after the Promachonas border control
I booked a room for four people and it was just what I was hoping for. Good beds, clean bathroom, a balcony with mountain view. The area is super quiet and calm. The manager waa also very nice and helpful.
O have nothing to say here, everything was good.

    Very good
It is a very convenient location if you want to spend the night after Kulata boarder (coming from Romania). The staff was very nice and helpful. Place is clean, room is spacious.
The air in the room feels dusty, probably because of the carpet. Shower needs repairing, the water had very low pressure.
