Too much premium for the location

Very nice view South from the slope of Kaunispää. Good set of appliances in the cabin, which itself is clean.

For this price point, I think the cabin and appliances should be flawless. Now you notice small things, which would be easy to fix, if the owner would put a bit more attention to details. For example, kitchen had few broken/burned tools, one toilet seat was slightly broken and cabin tv/infotainment and kitchen appliances are somewhat outdated. All would be acceptable, if price was something else than 400€ per night. So not the best value. There are similar or better options in Saariselkä at the same price.

Beautiful wooden house, nice sauna with the wind of to look outside at the frozen landscape. Cozy living room with fireplace all built with big tree trunks. the TV has inly finnish channels… we didnt use it at all, bring your own table games and cards…it works as a detox The house is few kilometres away from the centre, which is what we were looking for to have an immersive experience in the nature and see the polar lights. If you book it, you will need a rental car. The division of the rooms is not the most practical , you have one proper double bed room which gives privacy because separated by a wall and a door, apart from that you have two other smaller rooms where you can fit two persons but are better suited for one person and another bigger room where you can fit two or three persons but is open on the stairs, so with limited privacy. In the entrance there is also a big dryer where you can put all your clothes if they are wet from going outside in the snow (it is as big as a mid size fridge)

the main thing we really didn’t like is the price, way too high also for finland and for saariselka. in the end was ok because we saw polar lights ( by making tours) 3 of the 5 days we stayed but a couple of times we asked ourselves if that price wasn’t too exaggerated.

The most magical Christmas holiday.

The property was stunning, felt like we were in a movie the whole stay. So much room for the family. Sauna was fantastic too, we loved the log fire. Location was fab. We did hire a car so was easy for us to get around but also can walk around. The children played outside the log cabin and us as parents felt safe for them to do that.

We had an amazing stay in this cosy, high quality, well equipped apartment...highly recommended!

The apartment was great! Very welcoming, warm on arrival with underfloor heating. The apartment was clean and excellently presented. Wood was provided for fires. And when we realised we had no firefighting supplies we contacted reception and they were straight around with matches and a lighter ;-) Thanks! One great addition was the drying cupboard for your laundry, but also worked well to quickly dry your gloves and coats when returning. And the views were great, so peaceful. It was a perfect location for our holiday.

This did not affect our stay or our opinion of the apartment, but we didn't have a sharp knife for food preparation...that is the only (very small) negative.

A stunning location and a lovely cabin. Some irritating errors due to lack of maintenance and care.

The most fabulous location to stay. The property is grouped with 3 other semi detached bungalows but offers good privacy. There is a private terrace with the most magical views. The hills above Saariselka were our favourite location of all that we experienced in our multi location trip and the toboggan run and ski slopes were within easy walking distance. The double height living space is very impressive and there was a log burner which added to the cosy feel and plentiful bed options to choose form for our family of 4. A clean and very pleasant property.

The kitchen is very small and exceedingly badly equipped! We had 2 knives, 4 forks and 4 spoons In a property which sleeps up to 10! We found self catering here very difficult and unlike many similar properties, there were no basics- oil, salt and pepper etc. There were also no tea towels provided which we found odd. There was a drying cupboard which was excellent but the washing machine was the smallest we’ve ever seen which rendered it pretty much pointless. There was no indication ahead of arrival that the keys were to be collected from a pub in the village, some distance away and we received no correspondence ahead of arrival (albeit it was a very last minute booking). There was also only linen on 1 double bed and 1 single bed, which was insufficient for our family of 4. There was no spare linen so one of the children had to make do without. The sauna room was lovely but the heater itself was faulty - the thermostat and timer were both broken so it was too hot for most of the family. An expensive stay, the biggest frustration being that, with a little care, these issues could be so easily resolved.

great hosts. answered all queries. everything g you need is available. the location is out of the main town and up in the hills which was exactly what we liked. lots of space and bedrooms and really rustic feeling with modern touches :)

È speciale

Questa struttura è pazzesca, sembra di stare in una fiaba. L’appartamento è a 1,5 km dal centro ed è in mezzo alla natura. È molto ampio, ci sono tutti gli spazi necessari, c’erano anche più posti letto di quelli che necessitavamo. Erano presenti due bagni, uno con una sauna abbastanza ampia e bella. C’è stato solo un piccolo problema con l’orario del check-in perché l’appartamento ancora non era pronto all’orario indicato, ma il receptionist ha cercato di venirci in contro offrendoci qualcosa al pub (luogo in cui si ritirano le chiavi). Anche le indicazioni per il check in, la casa ecc, sono ben indicate. Peccato che siamo stati una sola notte perché ne valeva veramente la pena. Ci abbiamo lasciato il cuore ❤️‍🩹
