Château du Romerel - Baie de Somme

The breakfast was comprehensive and served in a very pleasant room with views. I was offered fried eggs which I took and there was a limited supply of fresh fruits. The location and ambience was excellent. There was a swimming pool but we didn't get a chance to use it. Plenty of parking space in the secure grounds. The lady on reception was very genial and professional. Views from the room across the park to the Somme were superb. Despite the negatives, we hope to visit again because of the location and ambience.

Carpet in the room didn't seem very clean although it also seemed quite new. The shower unit was over a bath which can be very tricky and potentially dangerous for an elderly couple like us. A non-slip rubber mat for the bath might have helped. Tea and coffee making facilities were not in the room but in a lounge downstairs which had run out of cups and had limited milk when we wanted some tea before settling down for the night. There was no TV in the room (not a problem for us) but if you wanted to watch something there was one in the communal lounge on the ground floor. You pay a high premium for the old building and location because the room facilities do not justify the price. The bed was ridiculous being a double-double...perhaps the laundry bill contributes to the inflated price!

The apartment was modern, really nice, and the view was amazing. The parking is great there.

The room and reception rooms looked handsome. Location excellent. Grounds attractive. And a swimming pool.

The advertised garden view comprises a large gravelled area and the staff quarters on one side and some outbuildings on the other. attractive room was difficult to use as furniture meant curtains couldn’t be reached, wardrobe doors hard to open as lampstand and desk jammed up against them. A tiny separate loo on the opposite side of the room to shower not convenient. No facility to make early morning tea or coffee in bedroom. The room is not quite big enough to make it an effective twin.
