Roba Degli Ulivi

We really liked the concept and setting of Roba Degli Ulivi. The small stone houses surrounded by olive trees and other fruit trees create a very pleasant and authentically Sicilian atmosphere. The area is peaceful, the views are beautiful, and the good-sized swimming pool was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. We also appreciated the fresh bread and croissants at breakfast, especially the jams.

Some aspects were below our expectations. The outdoor furniture near the accommodation was quite worn and covered in dust, and we had to clean it ourselves before using it. The tables by the pool also needed more attention in terms of cleanliness. The mattresses were rather worn, and the springs could be felt. Also, although the accommodation was advertised as having air conditioning, only one of the bedrooms had it; the other had only a fan. The bathroom layout should also be made clearer in the description, as it can only be accessed by walking through one of the bedrooms. The biggest disappointment was the breakfast, especially as it was described as “fabulous”. Apart from the fresh bread and croissants, the selection was quite basic and limited: only boiled eggs, one type of cheese, some fruit, supermarket yoghurts and cereals, and packaged juice. Given the beautiful and very Sicilian setting, we had expected a more varied breakfast with some local character.

The best word to describe this place: paradise. Not too far away from Agrigento, this is a real jewel. We received a warm welcome from the host, the houses or apartments had a lot of authenticity and breakfast was all you can wish for. The pool offered a welcome refresher and a fantastic view over the valley. The property itself is really amazing.

The A/C was not working. The beds were very uncomfortable. The staff didn’t speak any English and hung up on us when we called to get help to find the place as the access road is different from the address and from Google maps’ location.
