Distrustful staff - couldn't recommend

Dinner and breakfast was good and room was quiet. The waitress at dinner was excellent.

It was not clear until you drilled down on Booking.com that parking is extra at €16 per night. I can see that this has now been changed. We were accused of lifting the barrier ourselves when in fact, it came up when we approached. We moved our car when asked. The staff seemed to distrust the fact that we had paid for breakfast in advance and for dinner after we had eaten and had to check before we were allowed to leave. It left a sour taste.

Excellent service and a wonderful stay

We had a wonderful stay at this cosy three-star hotel. The staff were welcoming and went above and beyond—surprising us with a complimentary upgrade to a larger room, which was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. Breakfast was fresh and satisfying with a good variety of options. Overall, the service was excellent, and we truly felt cared for throughout our stay.

A massive centipede in my bathroom upon arrival - but the lady at the reception removed it for me and I didn't see any more of them. Made me feel quite uncomfortable though as I've never seen anything of this size before.

Very nice, clean and comfortable hotel in a good location , within walking distance to the old town area. The hotel offered parking, which we were happy to use. We enjoyed a nice dinner at the restaurant, although there was a limited menu that evening. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The location, the friendliness of all the staff without exception, the cleanliness and the super comfy beds. Also the fact that you are dog friendly. Breakfast was great too.

There's really not a lot to dislike about the hotel Catalpa - perhaps a larger, more modern lift could be an improvement, otherwise everything exceeded our expectations, thank you!

Overall, a great place to stay on a low budget. Would recommend for students.

The property is very good value for money for long stays, especially for someone like myself moving to Toronto from the UK. There were a few issues towards the beginning - the fire alarms kept beeping, the shower upstairs was leaking into the downstairs bathroom, the stairs carpet was a little dirty - but all of this was dealt with very quickly. The fact that it has a kitchen facility and a laundry unit, plus several bathrooms, is great. The location is also ideal. The other residents also never caused any problems.

I felt like the duvet was a little thin, but I got used to it after a while as the temperature wasn't cold. The Wi-Fi was a little slow at the beginning of the stay, but if you are someone using it casually, you won't notice it. It also depends on how close you are to the router, and my room was quite far from it, yet the speed was still very good. There is a lot of junk furniture in the building - probably best to either scrap or sell it.
