Natural Hot Spring Yaoji Hakata Hotel

The large onsen which had warm, hot and cold baths with sauna

The room smelled musty/ old smoke smell

I chose this hotel because I had stayed in it before. While it was a business hotel, there were a few features that made me choose it again. One was the location, a five-minute walk from Hakata Station. Another was the excellent public onsen adjacent to the hotel. Breakfast was a good buffet, and I was quite touched that one the breakfast staff remembered me from some five years earlier. There were washing machines on three different floors which was useful.

I can't think of anything

Walking distance from Fukuoka station and lots of shops/ restaurants nearby, including a convenience store around the corner.

Not enough washer/dryers for the number of people staying there as had to wait to use them (and the clothes never did get dry!)

Well located (near to Hakata Station), calm, as clean and comfortable as Japanese business hotels get (i.e. not overly much but enough if you aren't staying long)

The rooms are small, the beds - even smaller. Both are typical for Japanese hotels so this isn't a problem with this hotel in particular. Our room had a window on the inner courtyard so it was rather gloomy but - once again - it wasn't that much of an issue.
