Dalat Edensee Lake Resort & Spa

First time staying here at recommendation of a friend. Everything was good. Check-in was done in good English and explained clearly. Room was huge (ours at La Rozario superior double) with 2-seater sofa, coffee table, workdesk & chair, bathtub, separate shower and toilet, long vanity top with 2 mirrors (but only 1 washbasin). Breakfast had a good spread with cereal, bread, pastries, local food, egg station, fruits, salad and dessert. Activities like pickleball or tennis, kayaking or pedal boating offered. Otherwise, just walking around the resort and its lake in cool temperatures is very relaxing and good for the soul

 Food quality was not great at the restaurant but service was excellent. Although the resort does not have any other amenity in its immediate vicinity, it's easy to get a Grab car to the nearby cafes or eating places (about 15 mins away). Going into town (25-30 mins) gives even more options for food and shopping.

The resort is beautiful and tranquil. The view from the villa was breathtaking. The staff was nice and friendly.

I didn't get a good night's sleep because I couldn't turn off the porch light, and the blinds didn't block all the light. The food was good but the service at the restaurant was slow.

The location is amazing

They were not AC in the room, no mosquito net around the bed so we were bothered a lot during the night by mosquito.

The hotel is ideally located at an out-of-the-way place near a man-made lake; it is quiet, surrounded by beautiful gardens and well kept lawns. It is decorated with hand-painted copies of famous paintings (think Vermeer's "Girl with A Pearl Earing" or William Bouguereau's "Mediations". I guess his "La Naissance de Vénus" is too risqué). Despite a few flaws (more on that later) it is a perfect setting for an idyllic stay for those seeking peace and tranquility, and not for those looking for local activities. The beds are very soft, confortable and clean. The staffs are most excellent, are extremely nice and helpful. Breakfast dishes are delicious, plentiful and service is wonderful.

The 3 rooms we stay in lack any kind of real heating, central or otherwise, in cases the weather turns cold or guests who are not accustomed to chilly climes; there are small fake-looking "fireplaces" with light play instead of real fire. Also, there are not any microwave ovens in our rooms so reheating late night snacks is out, and the TVs have no channels or any guides on how to get local channels. In order to get to 2 of our small rooms in the main building, we need to cross a large conference-type area with covered furnitures; at nights there are not any lights for us to navigate through from the elevators (I guess to save on power bills). A few strategically placed low power lights would help tremendously. Most likely for the same reason, the 2 treatmills in the gym are turned off (I have to turn them on to use and probably surprise the service lady when she sees me using one of them at 7:00 in the morning) and the weight machine has broken parts. The water for the showers and sinks takes about 5 minutes to heat up, and sometimes comes in pulses. And even with advanced request for a baby crib, none is provided, with no further attempts to get one nor any explanation given or mentioned by staffs during our 3-day stay. WiFi is free but it is open, unsecure network, so bring your own VPNs. No one mans the front desk after about 11:00 PM unless called for (no bell); some staffs take naps behind the stairscase in the lobby (scares my sister half to death when she sees the moving white blanket on the red sofa in the darken lobby after getting out of the elevator). Interestingly, there is a list of additional charges for regular, typical items in the rooms if those items are broken or taken as souvenirs. Again, the hotel probably wants to cut down on expenses and maintain profits but I find charging guests for a missing towel is a bit excessive.
