Bali Spirit - a lovely traditional stay

Traditional Bali is kept alive at this hotel with traditional hospitality and style - i love it and wish to stay longer next time . Also close to walks to waterfalls ! Lovely live music in the evenings in traditional style . The guide, Yuri, was fantastic too, and all the staff were so kind and welcoming !

There needs to be some shade umbrellas out in the garden seating for breakfast as the sun is very hot !

Serene and peaceful with amazing views

Stayed one night - would have liked to stay more but they were booked out. Beautiful property in a great location, where you can easily access the waterfall trails ( there are 4) . Amazing walks and stunning vistas on the trail. Spectacular sunsets to be viewed from the Sunset Bar with a wonderful view. Good selection at the buffet breakfast and we enjoyed lunch and dinner at the restaurant too. A shout out to the assistant manager Arya who was incredibly helpful - Suksma Arya 🙏 There is a peacefulness and serenity at this property - lots of nooks and crannies to discover with their mini rice terraces and fish ponds. All the staff are so friendly and helpful . Highly recommend staying here.

Room did not have fan or aircon - neither needed in June but probably need a fan in summer. Perhaps they put a pedestal fan in the room in the hotter months?

The place has a nice feel to it, the setting is beautiful and the staff are very friendly. Breakfast is nice.

Our University of Guam Field School keeps returning to this place for the past 20 years.

Puri Lumbung is the OG - the original GREATEST OF ALL TIME. We come to Bali with a field school from the University of Guam and have stayed here for the past 20 years. There is a reason we keep coming back even though there are so many new options in Munduk. From the staff (who are the most incredible people and welcome each of our university cohorts as if they were family) to the setting, to the learning experience we engage in, to the FOOD - OMG the best, to the wonderful accommodations in the middle of the rice fields - this place is magical. Pak Bagiarta, the original founder of Puri Lumbung, has passed away but his daughter, Ibu Yudhi, continues to carry on his vision of a lodge in the mountains of Munduk where the local community could be supported and empowered. Puri Lumbung has become our home away from home and they are truly our family.

The best views in Munduk and wonderful staff

What a stunning location! The views across the surrounding hills with clear views to the Java Sea and glimpses of the island of Java itself. Watching the mists roll in through the valleys in the evening and stunning sunsets. We had a room with a balcony that gave unobstructed views but the Sunset Bar is the place to be if your room is more surrounded by the wonderful and beautifully tended gardens. So much variety with the buffet breakfast - local dishes, western options, eggs cooked to your liking on the spot. There are several areas within the restaurant zone that you can have a different view with each meal. Take advantage of the service offered to hire a local guide to walk with you to the waterfalls. You will wander through rice fields and the edges of plantations along the way. Your guide will point out the trees and other plants growing so many fruits and spices like cloves, nutmeg, cocoa, coffee, avocadoes, passionfruits, vanilla, lemongrass, the list goes on. The village of Munduk itself is a delight to wander through and some of the local warungs provided us with the most delicious food. I'd encourage taking a few notes from youtubers who have shared their experiences of the area. It was the best way that we found to choose what we wanted to see to make the most of our limited time in the area.

We knew we were treating ourselves to a few days of a more luxurious stay compared to our accommodation choices for the majority of our time in Bali, but we did think the prices for our meals at their restaurant were a quite expensive when we could take a short walk around the village and find some incredible food at half the price and less. The room we stayed in had an amazing stone bath with the shower over it, but it wasn't easy to step in and out of if you're short like me.

It's a great place if you like nature.

The location is great. Our cottage was detached with a porch and a great view. Breakfast and dinner were good and plentiful. The spa is nice, too. This large facility respects nature very much.

The bed was not the greatest. The hike between our room and reception was not short.

Charming cottages in a beautiful garden among rice fields and small ponds. Marvelous views from the sunset bar. Super friendly staff. Amazing list of activities (we went for a 4 hour guided hiking and loved every minute of it). Nice restaurant.

Incredible setting and views.

Loved the views from our cottage and the great hikes to waterfalls right on our doorstep. Also really loved our waitress Kendran with the most beautiful smile and courteous manner unseen in many places in the world.

The restaurant was Ok for breakfast but we both had a terrible dinner. For example Chicken sate was not grilled as per usual and was inedible. The pork despite being described as Babi guling was lumps of tough stewed pork.

The location was beautifully set in the rainforest mountains just like I'd hoped. The staff were exceptional. The bed was super comfortable.

Stunning Surroundings

Excellent restaurant, lovely staff, stunning surroundings and views. Numerous trekking opportunities directly from the hotel. We enjoyed watching a local children's dance class on the premises.

Living amongst rice fields and beautiful nature means you need to also live in harmony with other creatures of nature. If you're not comfortable with that, maybe it's not the place for you

Fabulous place to stay

Great location and views, handy for walking, though this can be slippy and steep. Fabulously landscaped grounds and lots of places to hang out. Staff super friendly and helpful, provide walking map of area, free gifts on leaving. Food good, though cheaper to be found elsewhere with a walk. Hot shower, ok WiFi. Bed comfortable though not as big as usual Bali size. All in all great value and a great experience.

Not a complaint, but advice to take seriously hotels warnings about unwanted critters and keep foodstuffs in sealed container provided. Note paths can be slippy in the grounds and countryside around. More power points by beds would be good, as would not having to keep logging into WiFi.

Great spot with great views

We really enjoyed the location being so close to all three waterfalls. The staff provided us with a very helpful map which meant we could navigate our own way there relatively easy. It was also great having our own balcony off our room where we could watch the sunset. The staff were all really friendly & helpful, nothing was too much to ask. The restaurant staff in particular were great. Having the wildlife come out at night was also a real highlight for us.

I'm not sure if it's because of visiting during the rainy season, but the sunset bar was closed during our stay. Thankfully we had the same view from our balcony, so was still actually ok. And we were warned beforehand, and understandably being so close to the rice fields, there were mice coming and going downstairs. They never bothered us and our snacks were kept in the plastic tub provided.
